Requirements
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the program and UCI Health System.
  • Ability to exercise diplomacy and flexibility when interacting with physicians, nurses, other paramedical personnel, administrators, emergency officers, and law enforcement officers.
  • Customer service skills appropriate to the job.
  • Ability to clearly communicate medical information to a broad variety of people in person and by telephone.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Writing skills to prepare clear medical reports, laboratory data, and progress notes, and ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
  • Skill, knowledge, and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties, including the ability to be trained in specialized medical equipment and procedures.
  • Understanding of and adherence to privacy, confidentiality, and security policies and procedures related to Protected Health Information or other sensitive and personal information.
  • Current, active, unrestricted California Registered Nurse license.
  • Current Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certifications.
  • Current, active, unrestricted Furnishing license and Drug Enforcement Administration registration.
  • Active National Provider Identifier.
  • Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Board-Certified or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification for Adults and Gerontology national board certification.
  • Successful completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program.
  • Ability to obtain University of California Irvine Medical Center Allied Health Professional Privileges prior to hire.
  • Must provide proof of work authorization in the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive care for adult patients in ambulatory or inpatient settings.
  • Provide multidisciplinary care coordination, treatment, education, monitoring, and communication with patients and referring physicians.
  • Perform functions within the approved scope of practice, including management of chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and surgical procedures under approved standardized procedures.
  • Provide patient care at Health-licensed settings and affiliates based on educational preparation and approved privileges.
  • Maintain standards of care for the specified patient population and demonstrate self-direction and accountability for quality of care and role development.
  • Complete credentialing and Medical Staff privileging before the first working day.
  • Work under the supervision of the designated physician and within applicable policies and procedures.
