Requirements
  • High school or equivalent, technical school, or college experience.
  • Ability to use and read a tape measure with precise standards and accuracy.
  • Understanding of prints, sketches, blueprints, and building plans with minimal instruction for performing layout, framing, and assembly.
  • Completion of an apprenticeship program in the carpentry trade, or equivalent experience or knowledge.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and people skills, with proven success working in team environments.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the jobsite.
  • Ability to supply basic tools required for the position, such as a toolbox, hammer, and nail bag.
  • Ability to stand for approximately 95% of the work time and sit for approximately 5%.
  • Ability to frequently walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and crawl as appropriate.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing no more than 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders, scaffolds, and other objects in multi-story buildings while carrying tools and equipment.
  • Ability to work at varying heights using scaffolds, aerial man lifts, and personal fall protection.
  • Commitment to safety and keeping the work area neat and clean.
Responsibilities
  • Fit and install prefabricated window frames, doors, hollow metal door frames, weather stripping, interior and exterior trim, and finish hardware.
  • Install, align, and imbed miscellaneous metal and specialty items such as handrails, bearing plates, lintels, fire extinguishers, and bathroom accessories.
  • Erect scaffolding and ladders for work on structures above ground level.
  • Use appropriate hand tools for building layout, wood and metal framing, layout and installation of blocking, cabinet installation, and trim and casing.
  • Perform tasks involving dexterous use of hands and tools, including selective demolition, sawing lumber, dismantling forms, removing projections from concrete, and cutting and attaching insulating material.
  • Assist other carpenters or company employees in performing their duties.
  • Operate hand and power tools, company equipment, and vehicles as required.
  • Work Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with occasional Saturday work and overtime as required.
