Requirements
  • Have 5-7 years of experience designing consumer-facing products, with an emphasis on mobile app design.
  • Are well-versed in a variety of design methods to clarify requirements and overall experience strategy (e.g. journey mapping, defining user stories and jobs to be done, etc.)
  • Regularly use an iterative design process, including discovery (user needs, business requirements, and industry best practices), low fidelity design, high fidelity design, interactive prototype development, and post-launch validation.
  • Have an exploratory, creative mindset, and are adept in adapting ideas to changing circumstances and taking risks.
  • Are thorough in reviewing work and conduct regular quality checks and reviews with your manager, the design team, team leadership, and engineering to ensure a flawless final product.
  • Manage your work and your process with autonomy and have a knack for moving work forward, and keep your momentum high. You communicate updates, challenges, and blockers to your manager and project team.
  • Are proactive in asking questions, gathering information and context, and helping to define requirements in close collaboration with Product and Engineering.
  • Are skilled in design tools like Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Design systematically: you account for dependencies and ways that styles, patterns, and hierarchies fit into the broader Sports, Yahoo, and/or industry ecosystems.
  • Are a positive, engaged contributor to team culture.
  • Use generative AI in your process to level up your thinking, design process and speed.
Responsibilities
  • Overall, collaborate closely with product and engineering to translate ideas into polished, well-crafted, visually exciting and dynamic mobile-first experiences.
  • Collaborate with the product team to define and clarify requirements and overall experience strategy, leveraging early stage UX methods and low fidelity wireframes.
  • Prototype at high fidelity to explore concepts, validate hypotheses, and communicate design intent effectively.
  • Contribute to design direction on strategically important initiatives, partnering with other senior designers, design leadership, and product management.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for experience upgrades and design improvements, and work with product and engineering to ship those improvements.
  • Gather insights, synthesize findings, and refine UX strategy and design approaches based on evidence, quantitative trends, and user feedback.
  • Regularly present design work with clarity and confidence, grounding decisions in user needs and business priorities.
  • Guide feedback conversations and incorporate input in ways that strengthen the work while preserving design intent.
  • Regularly use and contribute to design systems and defining best practices.
  • Uphold and raise our visual and experience quality bar for experiences that span app, mobile web, and desktop.
Desired Qualifications
  • Have experience playing Fantasy sports, and/or are interested in Fantasy sports.
  • Have one or more “spikes” in design specialties that help uplift the quality and experience of Yahoo Fantasy (graphic/visual design, motion design, product illustration, etc.).
  • Have an aptitude or experience in running your own user research or usability studies.
  • Have previous experience in game design
