  • A college or university degree in a related field.
Responsibilities
  • Oversees teaching assistants and graders, especially ensuring grading is consistent and of high quality.
  • Handles EdTech set-up (Github, Gradescope, Canvas, Ed Discussion, etc).
  • Grades homework and exams.
  • Answers questions on Ed Discussion or other similar systems.
  • Helps design assignments and exam questions.
  • Leads discussion sections and labs, if necessary.
  • Handles Student Disability Services cases and be the point of contact for other special cases.
  • Attends class, if necessary.
  • Applies skills to design, construct, test, operate, and maintain laboratory or instructional equipment. Prepares manuals, syllabi, and other instructional materials.
  • Helps design lecture demonstrations and assist students with experimental techniques and interpretation of data.
  • Prepares and tests lecture demonstrations to ensure consistency with course content. Works with faculty or staff to determine the suitability of demonstrations for specific lectures.
  • Recommends improvements on existing demonstrations. Assists with creating manuals, syllabi, and other instructional materials. Maintains and documents the use of demonstration equipment or materials.
  • Performs other related work as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least one year of experience as a Teaching Assistant or Grader in undergraduate or graduate classes in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of one or more of the following areas of Computer Science: Introductory programming in Python, Systems programming in C, Computer Systems (Networks, Operating Systems, Databases, etc.), Machine Learning, Theoretical Computer Science (Discrete Mathematics, Algorithms, etc.).
  • Experience with EdTech tools, such as Ed Discussion, Gradescope, GitHub Classroom, Canvas, etc.
  • Ability to respond on short notice and work in stressful situations.
  • Ability to work independently in a self-directed manner as well as in a group environment.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Technical competence in using Linux.
