- Bachelor's degree in engineering with at least 10 years of experience.
- Must understand all appropriate codes and LEED requirements.
- Must have a strong working knowledge and experience with AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit, word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and database software.
- Must have demonstrated experience in making decisions, judgment, and effective problem solving.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
- Excellent planning, delegation, and time management skills.
- Professional Engineer certification is required.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Oversee and participate in marketing activities to ensure a steady flow of Requests for Proposals.
- Build relationships with present and prospective clients.
- Prepare written proposals including scope and fees with required assumptions and exclusions to protect the firm.
- Prepare fees that ensure profit but are competitive enough to win.
- Participate in proposal presentations and negotiations.
- Assign staff to projects and oversee project kickoff meetings.
- Participate in project supervision as required to ensure successful projects.
- Support project managers by stepping in during meetings and communications with clients and staff.
- Coordinate scheduling of staff and project deadlines.
- Ensure billing and profitability targets are met so the Columbia office is profitable every month and the majority of projects are profitable.
- Has a thorough understanding of the construction process.
- Promote and participate in development of company design and production standards.
- Assist in the education and development of design staff and act as a resource for design questions.
- Evaluate staff performance and make recommendations for appropriate actions as necessary.
- Maintain and improve quality control procedures as they relate to design, budget and schedule objectives.
- Prepare and execute big picture plan with Regional VP & President of Engineering to properly staff and grow our office.
