Requirements
  • Registration with the provincial College of Occupational Therapists in good standing.
  • Accepting new graduates who are licensed.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification obtained within the past 12 months.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to provide a current, clear Vulnerable Sector Screening.
  • Knowledge of applicable community resources available for clients and families.
Responsibilities
  • Provide community visits to assess individuals' abilities and needs while working with multidisciplinary teams and equipment vendors to facilitate function.
  • Provide treatment to pediatric clients in home or school settings and/or adults with medical or health concerns.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team consisting of healthcare workers and other community resources.
  • Analyze the physical, cultural, social, and institutional environmental impacts on occupational performance and engagement issues.
  • Develop client-centered plans with clients and interprofessional teams, and adjust services to reflect a client-centered approach related to the physical, social, cultural, institutional, and economic environment.
  • Use effective, evidence-based problem-solving and judgment to address client needs.
  • Engage clients using a collaborative approach, build rapport and trust, and reach mutual understanding and agreement regarding services to be provided.
  • Maintain the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to provide safe, efficient, and effective service in all areas of practice by keeping current with changes in the practice setting that affect scope of practice.
  • Maintain professional client records related to client encounters and plans in compliance with ParaMed policies and the standards of the regulatory body or Occupational Therapy college.
