Requirements
  • Understanding of electrical wiring, fabrication, and testing of control panels in a UL 508A and UL 698A panel environment.
  • Understanding of instrument and control systems, including transmitters, programmable logic controllers, instrument loops using 4-20 mA, flow meters, pressure probes, temperature probes, and level probes.
  • Understanding of programmable logic controller logic and software platforms for input/output testing, including Allen-Bradley, Siemens, and Motorola.
  • Ability to write and submit clear corrective work orders for approval and follow up when requested.
  • Proficiency with electrical test equipment and similar tools.
  • Understanding of electrical wiring and testing of direct-current and alternating-current systems up to 480 volts.
  • Understanding of circuits and relays.
  • Ability to power up and test 120 VAC, 24 VDC, and 480 V electrical systems while following Occupational Safety and Health Administration and National Electrical Code safety practices.
  • Ability and dexterity to work with duct covers and cabinets to manipulate wires.
  • Understanding of basic email, Microsoft Office products, and other applications.
  • Ability to work extended hours, overtime, or weekends when required by the production and shipping schedule.
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness in all areas of the panel shop.
  • Ability to adhere to safety and environmental rules and regulations.
  • An Associate Degree in Electrical Technology or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school is required.
  • Two to four years of electrical experience is required.
  • Material inspection and reporting experience is required.
  • Cable tray and conduit installation experience is required.
  • Proficiency with quality control reporting methods is required.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills are required.
Responsibilities
  • Perform quality control inspections and testing of in-house fabricated instruments and control panels under UL 508A and UL 698A standards.
  • Visually verify the bill of materials for the panel being tested in-house.
  • Visually verify, electronically test, and trace all wire origins and designations for accuracy and correct wire tags.
Desired Qualifications
  • Journeyman license.
  • Six years of related experience.
  • Previous experience as a military technician.
