Requirements
  • Two years of equipment operating experience.
  • Related work experience.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • The ability to make judgments regarding efficient equipment and attachment operations.
  • Very good hand, foot, and eye coordination for safe equipment operation.
  • Compliance with equipment repair and maintenance procedures, operator safety standards, and company safety policies.
  • The ability to perform extensive physical activity, operate equipment for long periods, and work in awkward positions while cleaning and maintaining equipment.
  • The ability to stand, walk, reach, kneel, climb, or balance, and to carry or handle materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Close, color, and peripheral vision.
  • The ability to work safely in varying weather conditions, undeveloped job sites, and adjacent to live traffic.
  • Willingness to travel, including occasional overnight stays.
  • Availability for common night and weekend shifts during the milling and paving season.
Responsibilities
  • Operate asphalt pavers, asphalt rollers, material transfer vehicles, milling machines, backhoes, and skid steers for milling and paving operations.
  • Perform safe operation, non-mechanical maintenance, and upkeep of construction equipment.
  • Discuss daily work plans and goals with the field manager and determine the safest, most productive, and timely method for completing assigned work.
  • Perform physical duties associated with the safe and productive operation of the assigned equipment.
  • Clean, grease, and maintain fluid levels on equipment.
  • Operate equipment with priority given to the safety of all people working nearby.
  • Communicate clearly with crew members to accomplish daily work goals.
  • Maintain responsibility for the safety of oneself and fellow workers.
