Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing or meet an education equivalency for licensing.
  • For Illinois, provide an official passing score on NCLEX results.
  • Have less than one year of experience working as a registered nurse; no experience is required.
  • Be eligible to practice as determined by the State Board of Nursing.
  • Hold Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association, or obtain it within 90 days.
  • For Illinois, obtain a Registered Professional Nurse license within three months of the official NCLEX pass date.
  • For Illinois, provide an official NCLEX pass letter.
  • For Missouri and Oklahoma, provide NCLEX results within three months of the graduation date and take the NCLEX within 30 days.
  • For Wisconsin, obtain a Wisconsin Nursing Temporary Permit.
Responsibilities
  • Perform delegated nursing care activities under the direction of an RN preceptor based on demonstrated competence.
  • Perform patient assessments covering biophysical, psychosocial, spiritual, cultural, age-appropriate, nutritional, pain-management, and abuse-or-neglect needs to develop, evaluate, and modify patient care plans.
  • Develop comprehensive patient and family education plans and provide health education and coaching using appropriate resources and instructional methods.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation, including processing physician orders where required.
  • Monitor and evaluate nursing care delivered by team members based on patient needs and professional judgment.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding all aspects of patient care.
  • Participate in required patient-care training and complete competency requirements.
  • Complete required training, seek assistance, and ask questions to learn and understand the role.
  • Demonstrate professional nursing standards defined in the professional practice model and use the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Nurses to guide responses to patient and population health needs.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
