Requirements
  • Three or more years of experience in internal audit, compliance testing, risk management, or internal controls.
  • Strong knowledge of information security and information technology risk control frameworks (e.g., COSO, COBIT, NIST).
  • Understanding of financial, operational, and IT control environments.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to present complex findings clearly.
  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems or a related field.
  • Risk and control assessments in highly regulated environments.
  • Understanding of information technology infrastructure including networking, Active Directory, and backups.
  • Process analysis and documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work across departments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to develop and maintain working relationships with audit, governance, risk, and compliance and IT teams to promote continuous control awareness and improvements.
Responsibilities
  • Define and execute testing procedures to assess the design and effectiveness of key internal controls across business units, technology, and operational processes.
  • Ensure testing activities are aligned with regulatory standards SOX, FFIEC, FDIC, etc. and internal policies.
  • Document test results, identify control deficiencies, and provide clear remediation recommendations.
  • Collaborate with business process owners, auditors, compliance, and risk teams to ensure timely resolution of identified issues.
  • Recommend enhancements to testing methodologies, control design, and risk management practices to strengthen the bank’s control environment and maintain awareness of industry regulatory environment and threat landscape.
  • Prepare executive-ready reports, dashboards, and presentations for senior management and regulators, and information technology peers.
  • Participate in ongoing monitoring and follow-up activities to confirm remediation effectiveness and sustainability.
Desired Qualifications
  • Professional certifications such as CIA, CISSP, CISA, Microsoft certifications, or CRMA.
  • Experience with GRC tools.
  • Banking or financial services industry experience.

Customers Bank names Stephen Wyremski as chief operating officer

Customers Bank has appointed Stephen Wyremski as chief operating officer, effective 26 January. The $24 billion bank subsidiary of Customers Bancorp announced that Wyremski brings over 20 years of financial and operational leadership experience to the role. Wyremski joined Customers Bank in 2024 as a strategic adviser, where he helped accelerate finance and data modernisation initiatives. He previously served as chief financial officer of a New York-based commercial bank with over $100 billion in assets and spent nearly a decade at KPMG in its banking audit practice. Wyremski holds a bachelor's degree in accounting and finance from Boston College and has been a licensed certified public accountant for nearly two decades.

Customers Bancorp beats Q4 revenue estimates with 22.5% growth to $236.9M

Customers Bancorp reported fourth-quarter revenue of $236.9 million, exceeding analyst estimates of $231.3 million and representing 22.5% year-on-year growth. The regional banking company's non-GAAP earnings of $2.06 per share also beat consensus estimates by 0.8%. Net interest income reached $204.4 million, surpassing expectations of $200.1 million with 21.8% year-on-year growth. The net interest margin came in at 3.4%, meeting analyst forecasts. However, the efficiency ratio of 49.5% missed estimates of 47.7%. Customers Bancorp, which operates with a branch-light digital banking strategy, has shown solid long-term performance with 13.9% annualised revenue growth over five years. Recent growth has moderated to 6.8% annualised over the past two years. The company's market capitalisation stands at $2.74 billion.
