Requirements
  • A college and/or university degree is required.
  • At least 2 years of experience with customer service or counter sales is required.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software is required.
  • The candidate must have customer service and verbal communication skills.
  • The candidate must be able to identify and pursue new customers and increase the market share of assigned customers profitably.
  • The candidate must be able to gain comprehensive knowledge of products and value-added services.
  • The candidate must be able to build relationships with customers, vendors, and teammates.
  • The candidate must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, meet tight deadlines, and manage multiple projects.
  • The candidate must be able to learn and operate the applicable order-processing software system.
  • Intermediate math skills are required.
  • The candidate must be able to learn to operate material-handling equipment.
Responsibilities
  • Represent the Profit Centre professionally and uphold its core values and ethics in every interaction.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships while understanding each customer's business and needs.
  • Know the products and services sold to each customer and grow sales profitably.
  • Visit customer offices, shops, and job sites to assess business needs, develop relationships, and generate and close profitable sales.
  • Prospect for and identify new customers, and alert the Profit Centre Manager and Credit Team about viable prospects.
  • Lead and own the sales process, including producing sales call reports, territory planning, and growth targets.
  • Analyze customer data and develop and execute strategies to grow market share profitably while meeting and exceeding Profit Centre targets.
  • Process orders, quotes, job packages, and other required sales functions.
  • Investigate and resolve customer issues, including short payments and returns, in a timely manner.
  • Work with the Profit Centre Manager and Credit Team to facilitate payment of accounts receivable and communicate business changes that may affect customer credit standing.
  • Assist and communicate with customers, vendor representatives, and municipal representatives when new products are introduced.
  • Develop and oversee strategic vendor programs designed to grow the business profitably, and participate in vendor trade shows and industry conventions.
  • Follow safety regulations at customer locations and at the Profit Centre.
  • Support Customer Service Representatives and Profit Centre activities as part of the Profit Centre team.
  • Perform other tasks requested by the Profit Centre Manager.

  • Experience using M3.
