Assistant Professor of Sport Management

The Maine Business School (AACSB Accredited) at the University of Maine seeks applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Sport Management, with an anticipated start date of January 1, 2026. This will be a full-time, ongoing appointment, renewed annually based on satisfactory performance.

New faculty must establish a research program leading to publications in refereed journals in their area of expertise. The successful candidate will be expected to be an effective and engaging teacher, to make a strong commitment to the development of innovative curricula, to advise and mentor undergraduates in pursuit of their academic and professional goals, and to collaborate with colleagues to increase student success. Our primary teaching needs are in sport sales & sponsorship and revenue generation. The position will offer a competitive salary and research support.

The typical teaching load is two courses per semester at the undergraduate level for the first two years, after which you will teach a load of three courses one semester and two courses
one semester. The candidate will be expected to participate in the maintenance of AACSB accreditation and remain academically qualified.

Qualifications:
Required:

• Ph.D. in Sport Management or be ABD with an anticipated graduation date of no later than May 31, 2026.
• Demonstrated ability to engage in quality research within the relevant academic discipline.
• Evidence of the ability to teach relevant classes.

Preferred:

• Ph.D. in Sport Management from an AACSB-accredited business program.
• Evidence of potential to publish research in quality academic journals.
• Documented evidence of quality teaching in Sport Management.
• Relevant professional certification(s).
• 3 or more years of relevant professional experience in industry.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
