↑ 0%Grab Philippines has mobilised PHP 350 million through its Grab Bayanihan Fuel Crisis Support Program to help transport and delivery partners cope with rising fuel prices. The initiative includes expanded incentives, spot bonuses and commission rebates, reducing effective commission rates for four-wheel mobility services to 15%. The programme features Grab Turbo, a new driving mode optimising earnings, and a Digital Earnings Tracker for transparency. Delivery riders have received over PHP 50 million in spot bonuses, alongside bicycle subsidies and platform rewards including grocery credits and fuel subsidies. Grab has also secured pump discounts generating over PHP 2 million in fuel savings through partnerships with Seaoil and Shell. The company's Eco-Drive Initiative, launched in April 2025, offers drivers access to electric and hybrid vehicles through partnerships with BDO, BPI and major automakers.
Singapore has approved Grab and ComfortDelGro to partner with Chinese autonomous vehicle developers WeRide and Pony.ai for robotaxi services. The initial Punggol rollout uses 11 vehicles operating on set routes linking residents with transport nodes and amenities, rather than as free-roaming robotaxis. The service, called Ai.R, currently offers free trips requiring website booking, with a flat S$4 fare expected from mid-2026. ComfortDelGro and Pony.ai's service remains invitation-only before public launch. The trial addresses Singapore's labour shortage driven by tight labour markets and an ageing population. Fourteen Grab driver-partners have qualified as on-board Safety Operators, whilst others train for remote monitoring roles. For Chinese firms, Singapore provides an overseas testbed and Southeast Asian entry point, with regulatory approval progressing from initial assessment to public operations in approximately seven months.
Grab Holdings and WeRide launched public operations of the Ai.R autonomous ride service in Punggol, Singapore, using WeRide's GXR and Robobus shuttles. The service offers free weekday autonomous shuttle rides following 30,000 kilometres of testing, with commercial rollout planned for mid-2026. The launch creates new technology-enabled roles including Safety Operator and Remote Operator within Grab's ecosystem, with 14 driver-partners already trained. Alongside the Ai.R announcement, Grab unveiled a $500 million share buyback plan, signalling management confidence whilst balancing long-term autonomous fleet investments. Simply Wall St analysts project Grab's revenue could reach $5.9 billion by 2029, requiring 20.5% annual growth. Community estimates value the company between $4.44 and $11.50 per share, reflecting uncertainty around autonomous mobility capital requirements.
Southeast Asian super app Grab has launched several AI-powered features across its platform, including Grab AI Assistant, built on models from OpenAI and Anthropic. The assistant provides food recommendations, trip planning and shopping assistance through photo, voice and text inputs. The company also introduced Grab Driver AI Assistant for navigation and passenger communication, plus Group Ride allowing up to four passengers with different destinations to share trips. GrabMaps now provides real-time traffic, weather and accident information. CEO Anthony Tan emphasised making AI accessible regardless of technical skills or affordability. Grab AI Assistant launches in Singapore first, rolling out to Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam by year-end. WeRide and Grab have officially launched Singapore's first autonomous public ride service in Punggol. The Ai.R (Autonomously Intelligent Ride) service features WeRide's GXR and Robobus models and is now open to the public after a trial phase with over 1,000 early riders and 30,000km of autonomous mileage. The service operates weekdays from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM, offering two full shuttle routes and a 20-minute mini route. Rides are free until commercial service begins mid-2026. The public can book via rideair.ai. Fourteen Grab driver-partners have been trained as Safety Operators to accompany rides initially, with additional training underway for Remote Operator roles. WeRide's technology already operates as robotaxis in China, UAE and Saudi Arabia, marking Singapore as its latest deployment market.
