We are looking for a committed experienced Senior Targeting Operations SME to support the development of our Joint Targeting Platform. Solve unique, challenging, and pressing problems supporting national defence and enable Joint and Coalition partners with tools required to win in the emerging operational environment.
You will apply your blend of operational and technical career experience and expertise to integrate leading-edge R&D and commercial technology initiatives and capabilities that will change the game in integrating and coordinating Joint Targeting activities in support of the British Army, and across the UK MOD. You will be responsible for designing, integrating and managing delivered RII technologies and capabilities within the UK MoD, working as an embedded analyst / change manager within selected functional and operational branches providing daily support to British Army Deep Fires. Ensuring that requirements are well documented and understood by the entire programme team and that delivered technology is tailored to meet contractual needs.
You will constantly collaborate with the RII programme leads for operations and engineering to ensure and maintain overall RII and programme understanding of the HQ’s requirements and any user desired modifications or additional data requirements as part of a Global RII programme supporting multiple Governments, Partners and Allies.
This position requires a current UK National Security Vetting (NSV) Security Clearance (SC) and willing to obtain Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and be prepared to maintain it for the duration of employment.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Willing to commute within normal distance to Andover, United Kingdom
- Provide subject matter expertise supporting the of the Joint Targeting Platform
- Use your understanding of staff roles, functions and organizational structures, including Targeting Working Group and Decision Board functions, to support systems engineering activities driving the development of novel software capabilities to support the warfighter
- Work with user organizations and operational units to understand Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Concept of Operations (CONOPS) and TTPs that enable the user to make effective use of the prototype solution
- Capture user stories, customer use cases, and draft System Engineering artifacts representative of more complex customer/user environments and scenarios
- Identify desired system functionality and validate current and new operational use cases
- Work with British Army, RAF, Royal Navy, Joint, and Coalition units to understand their network, systems and processes; use that understanding to improve software design and TTPs
- Identify unit specific data sources and systems needed to be integrated in the SW baseline
- Assist in training development and user training support
- Participate in working groups, forums, and analytical activities to support larger business line or program objectives
- Create and deliver clear and compelling high-quality briefings, documents, conceptual and analytical reports to customers, and larger project teams
- Support the iterative development, integration, use, and enhancement of our software for the planning, execution and assessment of UK MOD and wider Government activities. Effectively translate and communicate relevant complex operational/domain information within your team and cross-functionally (eg. engineering teams)
- Provide support for demonstrations as a Targeting SME
- Develop white papers and concept documents supporting product development and business development activities
WHAT YOU HAVE DONE
- Must hold a current UK National Security Vetting (NSV) Security Clearance (SC) and willing to obtain Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and be prepared to maintain it for the duration of employment.
- The ideal candidate should have at least 10+ years of recent and relevant experience; targeting experience at a Division level or higher
- Served in the military as a senior NCO, Warrant Officer, or Commissioned Officer
- Used strong communication skills to effectively interface with military officials, managers, and subordinates
- Knowledgeable of British Army, Joint, and NATO Targeting doctrine
- Background, knowledge, and formal military training in UK Land Targeting, UK Joint Targeting, and NATO Targeting.
- Experience in high-level warfighting exercises.
- Knowledge and formal training on artillery Fire Control systems as a user, such as FC-BISA, ComBAT, JADOCS, and JTS-FAST
- Served in a leadership or technical position at formation-level or within an operational HQ; Joint experience is preferred
- Must have strong planning, problem solving, analytical, organizational, and leadership skills
- Experience gathering, analyzing, and presenting facts using the appropriate data collection and dissemination tools/techniques
- Possesses a thorough knowledge of applicable complex operational mission areas and program requirements
- Must be able to work independently with limited oversight and function effectively as part of a geographically separated team
- Must have experience developing Tactics, Techniques and Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures or other process documents
- Experience performing tasks with Microsoft productivity software and applications
- Must possess a working proficiency with Microsoft Office products and technology in general
EVEN BETTER
- Knowledge and formal training in TacticalData Link management, such as Link 11/11A and L16 to include cursor on Target (CoT) protocols
- Knowledge and training in Artillery sensors, specifically Weapon Locating Radars
- Knowledge and training in GBAD and air defense systems integration
- Knowledge and training Sensor-to-shooter digital architecture design
- Knowledge of Joint Task Force (JTF) Planning and Operations
- Familiar with systems engineering processes for developing/documenting requirements
- Experience leading Targeting Working Groups and/or Decision Boards
- Experience delivering targeting training
- Knowledge of the Defence Safe System of Training
- An understanding of Training Needs Analysis and Training Delivery
