Requirements
  • You have a bachelor’s degree in engineering specializing in mechanical or mechatronics.
  • 5+ years of experience in related field
  • Proven experience as an automation engineer or in a similar role, showcasing hands-on expertise in developing and implementing automations.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, tools, and common troubleshooting techniques, with a commitment to safety and quality standards.
  • You have 3+ years of experience working in an apparel or outdoor equipment manufacturing facility with sound knowledge of garment or equipment construction.
  • You have 2+ experiences in a leadership role and able to effectively pass knowledge on and train others.
  • You master continuous improvement, and you are recognized for facilitating change. You have previous experience in 5S, LEAN manufacturing, machine automation and project management.
  • Building relationship is your other strength. You can balance autonomy and collaboration with strong interpersonal skills with ability to deal with difficult situation with tact and professionalism.
  • You have a proven track record of sound judgement, by working independently to achieve success with minimal guidance. You skillfully navigate conversations to influence change and achieve results.
Responsibilities
  • Focus on strategic objectives and projects to create wide scale value to the company strategies
  • Analyze current systems and workflows to identify opportunities for automation. Implement improvements to existing & future processes and systems
  • Revolutionize the current manufacturing process by exploring, developing, piloting, and scaling new technologies
  • Design, develop, and implement advanced automation systems tailored for technical apparel manufacturing
  • Partner with equipment suppliers & integrators on trial automation to improve quality and productivity of current manufacturing process
  • Lead automation projects from conception to deployment, including planning, execution, and evaluation
  • Collaborate closely with our Design Centre and successfully influence a more effective partnership in design, development, and advanced manufacturing
  • Mentor engineering technicians, engineers and co-ops, providing technical guidance on the mastery of equipment and automation
  • Possess comprehensive manufacturing knowledge and proven leadership skills to scale model specific findings into large and impactful initiatives to achieve the greatest value
  • Provide support for automation systems, including troubleshooting issues, performing root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for automation systems, including design specifications, user manuals, and maintenance procedures
  • Collaborate closely work with engineering team and maintenance team to transfer knowledge of new automations, to ensure elimination of possible operational disruptions
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in automation technology and industry trends. Propose and develop innovative solutions to enhance our manufacturing capabilities and maintain a competitive edge
  • Foster great relationships with multiple teams to enable high performing teams including but not limited to promoting KPIs, sharing Lean initiatives, communicating appropriate production performance measures and costs, analyzing the root cause of performance trends, initiating improvement plans, determining the right jigs, templates, and workflow to advance automation in manufacturing
