The Opportunity:
We are looking for experienced Solution Architect to provide pre- and post-sales technicial support for a new B2B cloud effort being developed by Bayer for the Agri-Food marketspace. As a Sales Solution Architect on the Cloud Solutions Team within Bayer Digital Farming Solutions (DFS), you will have primary responsibility for establishing and maintaining technical relationships with North American based customers and prospects.
As such, you will play a critical role in the customer engagement process, helping evangelize the Bayer DFS vision and mission and drive ongoing technical conversations with customers. Your primary goal will be to win over customer technical decision makers to purchase and use the wide range of agronomic cloud solutions being jointly developed with our partner Microsoft. You will also be responsible for identifying and communicating customer needs and developing solution architectures that leverage platform capabilities to meet customers’ business needs.
You will work within a virtual team of technical, partner and business development resources to educate your customers at a technical level, demonstrate and prove our solutions, and win the technical decision, allowing the team to achieve/exceed quarterly customer adoption and usage targets in your accounts. Being part of this team will allow you to maintain and develop your deep technical expertise across both Bayer and Microsoft Azure cloud-based solutions, architectures, programs, and technologies.
What You’ll Do:
Pre-Sales Responsibilities:
- Identify customer business requirements and match them to product features
- Build joint customer strategies with business development and marketing colleagues to encourage product adoption
- Provide live demonstrations of Bayer DFS cloud platform tools & capabilities to prospective customers
- Develop and propose solution architectures for customers that take full advantage of the Bayer DFS cloud platform
- Answer technical questions and help customers integrate the Bayer cloud solutions with their existing development tools and workflows
- Build relationships with key decision makers, visit customers on-site, and serve as a customer’s primary technical point of contact
- Educate prospects on product implementation and usage
- Learn about customers’ successes and challenges, share customer feedback within the Cloud Solutions and Bayer DFS product team, and advocate for customer interests
- Maintain awareness of internal Bayer DFS technical initiatives and the Agri-Food industry
- Deliver product demonstrations, sales presentations, and lead clients through proof of technology
- Train and serve as primary technical resource for third party partner companies (such as System Integrators) on Bayer DFS cloud solutions, tools and functionality
- Identify and assess customer opportunities with third party partners
Post-Sales Responsibilities:
- Act as intermediary between sales and other technical teams to best meet customer needs
- Communicate customer feedback and perspectives to appropriate teams to be considered in product strategy and roadmap
- Document technical considerations, collect existing articles, and contribute to internal knowledge bases as a resource for other teams, customers, and partners
- Provide first line technical support to customers in implementation of solutions that leverage the Bayer DFS cloud platform
- Perform lunch and learns, onsite developer hackathons, and other technical marketing activities
- Represent Bayer DFS Cloud Solutions team at technical trade shows and events
- Partner with Product Marketing to enable and support partners on all partner readiness for various campaigns, events and collateral
- Identify the need for new partner content and work with cross-functional teams to create those assets
- Keep internal and partner facing areas up-to-date with the most current information
About You:
What You’ll Need:
- University degree (Master, PhD preferred) in IT or Technical field or business-related discipline or business relevant experience
- 5+ years of experience in a senior level customer-facing solution architect or sales engineering role working with enterprise or B2B accounts; customer-facing experience is a must
- Deep understanding of Microsoft Azure capabilities and technologies
- Ability to travel (about 25% of the time)
- Team-oriented and possess strong collaboration skills
- Passionate commitment to quality and success
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to quickly solve technical and business-related challenges
- Able to relate technical concepts to customers of all technical backgrounds
- Interest in and passion for the agri-food industry and use of technology to solve customer needs
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic, team oriented environment
Nice To Haves:
- Experience working in or with enterprise accounts in the agri-food marketspace
- Ability to work across different time zones
- Knowledge of Bayer Crop Science and/or Climate Corporation products
- Experience working with CRM software such as Salesforce
- Knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
- 10+ years of sales solutioning engineering experience, with at least 3 to 4 years working with enterprise level customers
- Strong experience working with and training 3rd party partners, such as System Integrators, to scale out technical enablement efforts
- Previous Software development, Engineering, and/or Technical Support experience
- Passionate about software, technology and business
- Ability to influence people
- Business level proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese language

- Base salary estimated range between $135k-$220k annually, depending on the hiring location. You may also be offered bonuses, RSUs cash equivalent, or commission.
