Oregon DEQ is a regulatory agency focused on improving the quality of air, land, and water in Oregon. It was established in 1969 to take over the responsibilities of the State Sanitary Authority. The agency works by implementing and enforcing environmental laws and regulations, conducting assessments, and promoting sustainable practices to protect natural resources. Unlike many other state agencies, Oregon DEQ emphasizes diversity and equity in its workforce, ensuring that it does not discriminate based on various factors such as race, gender, or disability. The main goal of Oregon DEQ is to restore and maintain a healthy environment for all Oregonians.
