Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 2+ years of water treatment design experience.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT), Professional Engineer (PE) License, active pursuit of PE registration, or ability to obtain PE registration by reciprocity.
  • Valid US Driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact within project teams and with clients.
  • Ability to direct activities of less experienced staff.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and other computer-based technical software specific to the discipline.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare technical memoranda, reports, calculations, correspondence, designs, drawings, specifications, permit applications, quantity takeoffs, and cost estimates for assigned project work.
  • Assist the Project Manager and senior staff with project schedules and budgets by reporting progress and identifying work outside the contractual scope of work.
  • Work with subconsultants under the direction of the Senior Project Engineer or Project Manager.
  • Serve as Lead Designer on less complex projects or discrete tasks on more complex projects, producing complete and coordinated project work through communication with the project team.
  • Review discipline-specific calculations, design assumptions, and concepts for quality control.
  • Provide technical input into proposals by developing scopes of work, budgets, and schedules.
  • Assist with technical presentations and participate in client meetings and technical presentations.
  • Work within established hourly budgets and monitor self-performance.
  • Develop expertise in applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships on technical issues through frequent communication as directed by the Project Manager.
  • Lead fieldwork, including reviewing existing facility conditions, conducting laboratory and sampling work, evaluating existing infrastructure performance, and observing construction and startup activities.
  • Assist with construction administration by tracking and reviewing submittals, preparing meeting agendas and minutes, reviewing and compiling daily and weekly construction reports, and tracking construction schedules.
  • Provide updates to the Senior Project Engineer and/or Project Manager.
  • Provide on-the-job training and mentoring for entry-level engineers and interns.
  • Develop writing and presentation skills and present data supporting technical decisions and their rationale.
Desired Qualifications
  • CAD proficiency and experience in technical report writing.
  • Experience with 3D drafting or building information modeling (BIM) products such as Plant 3D, Revit, or Navisworks.
  • Prior experience working in engineering consulting.
