Requirements
  • An Associate degree in a relevant discipline and at least 2 years of directly related experience demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance.
  • Must be a United States citizen.
  • Expertise with enterprise-level networking infrastructure.
  • Clear understanding of the Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol and Open Systems Interconnection models.
  • Familiarity with common enterprise network cabling standards, including copper and fiber.
  • Ability to respond to customer tickets in support of system and network outages.
  • Advanced knowledge of network troubleshooting for escalated issues involving intermediate and endpoint systems.
  • Experience installing, managing, and monitoring enterprise network switches and routers.
  • Ability to create, navigate within, and update network configurations and routes.
  • Experience using network management tools and systems, including wide area networks, local area networks, Arista, Juniper, Palo Alto, Cisco, or equivalent technologies, and optical networks.
  • Ability to recommend changes to methods or processes.
  • Good practices in documenting work performed, including issues, in service requests to service leads or management and when transitioning work to another team.
  • Customer service and joint team-building skills.
  • Ability to articulate technical projects verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective communication using tact and courtesy.
  • Knowledge of the Information Technology Service Management framework.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Responsibilities
  • Support desktop systems and operational technology/internet of things equipment in networked and standalone environments by responding to, documenting, and closing submitted tickets.
  • Provide secure, consistent, and highly available network infrastructures and virtual services to meet information technology needs.
  • Support network and virtual services development, design, implementation, testing, troubleshooting, network monitoring tools, and maintenance contracts.
  • Provide evaluation and design inputs to the team for customer networks.
  • Update information technology records systems to ensure accurate tracking and documentation.
  • Review incoming Information Technology Service Desk requests and resolve customer requirement issues.
  • Coordinate with advanced Network Operations teams as needed to support port activation and device connections to ports.
  • Allocate subnets for customer environments.
  • Assist with setting up customer firewall rules.
  • Partner with other information technology teams, including corporate cybersecurity, firewall, and proxy teams.
  • Represent assigned team or customer interests in change advisory boards.
  • Occasionally lead technical teams and participate in planning, conducting, and reporting on projects.

Edgewater wins IT managed services contract with Argonne National Laboratory.

Edgewater wins IT managed services contract with Argonne National Laboratory. Edgewater Federal Solutions has won a 5-year contract to be the IT managed service provider for Argonne National Laboratory. Argonne is operated by UChicago Argonne, LLC, for the Energy Department. The 1,500-acre campus employs over 4,500 people, including approximately 1,600 scientists and engineers. Under the contract, Edgewater will deliver comprehensive managed IT services to support Argonne's critical research mission across energy, environment, national security and STEM disciplines, the company said. "We are honored to partner with Argonne National Laboratory in support of its vital research mission," said Rodger Jones, Energy+ president of Edgewater Federal Solutions. "This award expands our footprint across the DOE's national laboratory complex. Our growing presence in this space underscores our commitment to delivering secure, reliable, and mission-focused IT services that enable scientific discovery at the highest level." Edgewater's services include service desk operations, on-site and remote end-user support, integrated IT and audio-visual services, and management of Argonne's ITSM platform to provide a scalable, flexible and resilient hybrid support model.
