Job Summary:
As a Senior Product Manager, you will fill a strategic product role responsible for representing the interests of the customer for the development team. You will play a critical role in planning and executing the product strategy and roadmap for our product solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams (such as engineering, quality assurance/testing, customer success, etc) to build a product that fulfills a product vision and turns it into business success.
The focus will be on innovating with Payscale data assets to new data products that deliver net new use cases and value to Payscale customers. This includes developing better compensation insights and/or market conditions and competitive insight to enable Payscale customers to make data-informed decisions.
This role requires a strong technical understanding of data and platform technologies as well as a strong reporting and analytic background to be able to innovate and drive insights at scale.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Work cross-functionally across product, engineering, architecture, data/behavioral science, and other areas to successfully develop and market new data products related to compensation.
- Work closely with developers, product managers, and data/behavioral scientists to understand problems, capture new ideas, and manage a prioritized backlog of requirements.
- Establish and maintain current knowledge of competitive product positioning, feature sets, and messaging.
- Assess value, develop cases, and prioritize stories, epics, and themes to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value and is aligned with product strategy.
- Align stakeholders on priorities and relative investment in feature development.
- Assist in holding the engineering team accountable for scope, goals, and timelines.
- Assist in the management of communication around feature plans and delivery.
- Contribute to a long-term product roadmap that aligns with business objectives and vision.
- Assist in packaging articulation and strategies for Payscale’s platform and products.
- If necessary, provide leadership to scrum teams as the Product Owner.
Qualifications, Abilities, and Skills Required:
Education:
- A MS/BS Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
Experience:
- 5+ years’ experience as a technical Product Owner or Product Manager designing or developing software in the data space
- Demonstrated track record in defining product strategy and establishing a clear set of product principles.
- Experience working in data platforms, data management, and data integration.
- Experience driving cross-functional product initiatives that yielded clear user and business outcomes.
- Strong technical background in data and analytic platforms and the ability to communicate effectively with engineers, architects, and scientists.
- Solid communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate complex ideas, plans, and business cases.
- Independently driven, resourceful, and able to deliver results in a self-directed way.
- Experience working in an Agile/Lean software environment
- Management experience is a plus.

Compensation
In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base salary range for this position is $137,200 - $205,800, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. This position is also eligible for an annual corporate bonus of 15%. If you are hired at Payscale, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors – we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider any internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth. We also offer a generous compensation and benefits package (more information on benefits listed below).
