  • Board-certification by or board-eligibility for the ACVIM or ECVIM-Companion Animal
Responsibilities
  • Clinical, didactic, and laboratory teaching of professional students, residents and interns inthe Small Animal Internal Medicine Service, in conjunction with the diagnosis and treatment ofpatients presented to The OSU Veterinary Medical Center.
  • All aspects of patient care associated with a busy Small Animal Internal Medicine practiceincluding: patient management, client care, communication with referring DVMs,consulting with colleagues, medical record keeping, professional development, andparticipation in public relations activities.
  • Use of scheduled off-clinic time for preparing teaching materials, conducting research, writing for publication, and other scholarly activities.
  • Tenure track faculty are expected to meet the criteria established in the college’s ResearchMetrics document for their level of research appointment.
  • Although extramurally funded research is not required for clinical track faculty, participationin collaborative research projects, resident and graduate student projects is stronglyencouraged.
  • Model and promote a culture of collegiality, professional citizenship, and collaboration in allacademic endeavors to facilitate an excellent workplace atmosphere conducive to effectivelearning, scholarly achievement, and a high level of job satisfaction.
  • Adhere to external, university, college, VMC, and department policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Desired Qualifications
  • Advanced degree or equivalent research experience (tenure-track candidates)
  • Evidence of collaboration and/or PI on research grants (tenure-track candidates)
  • Scholarly track-record consistent with rank
  • Experience in the classroom and laboratory teaching of veterinary students
  • Experience in the clinical training of veterinary students
  • Experience in the training of house officers / graduate students
  • Evidence of mentoring (e.g. students, trainees, staff, peer)
  • Excellence in patient management
  • Excellence in service to clients and referring veterinarians
  • Evidence of supporting a culture of collegiality, professional citizenship, and collaboration
