Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, preferably Information Security, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related major.
  • At least 8 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries supporting information technology initiatives.
  • Experience working through a highly matrixed organization to support and drive key initiatives.
  • Experience implementing controls aligned with regulatory compliance principles and concepts, including pharmaceutical regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance and direction aligned with existing or developing strategies, regulations, and technologies.
  • Develop, manage, execute, and define strategy for technology compliance and demonstration of controls covering regulatory compliance and Pfizer policy requirements, including GxP, SOX, privacy, security, and software development lifecycle requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and manage repeatable compliance strategies, solutions, services, and standards for Digital initiatives and related technology areas.
  • Ensure customer activities address regulatory, privacy, quality, and security risks, and manage risks with senior management acceptance when appropriate.
  • Define governance frameworks and operating models and drive organizational risk decisions.
  • Own enterprise compliance outcomes and influence vice president-level and executive stakeholders.
  • Lead transformation and capability development.
  • Identify and implement performance indicators, metrics, and standard reports to drive compliance improvements, and report the state of compliance to Digital lines and Quality.
  • Provide compliance, governance, risk management, and compliance consultancy and expertise for technology solutions and implementations.
  • Align compliance strategies with the strategic direction and operational needs of technology implementations.
  • Provide risk management direction, compliance event management, periodic reviews, inspection readiness, and other governance, risk management, and compliance activities under the Digital Process Framework.
  • Meet with Digital line leadership, attend program and project team meetings, and engage with senior leadership, business lines, and external partners.
  • Manage customer demand for compliance services and the performance of managed service providers for assigned Digital lines.
  • Drive compliance strategies supporting the business model through internal and external processes.
  • Represent compliance controls and risk management practices in Digital line projects and provide visibility into risks and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in annual budget estimation for the required portfolio within assigned Digital lines.
  • Support operational activities including Solution Profiles, Compliance Event Management, and Periodic Review deliverables.
  • Assure audit and inspection awareness and preparedness and provide coaching and guidance as a compliance expert.
  • Interact with auditors and inspectors as needed.
  • Support audits and inspections of Digital and technology before, during, and after the events, and work with Digital, business, and external partners on remediation commitments and status tracking.
  • Automate and simplify Digital and technology processes for streamlined impact.
  • Lead governance, risk management, and compliance efforts addressing compliance gaps; conduct risk assessments and define and implement remediation plans.
  • Monitor Digital process execution to identify targeted continuous-improvement opportunities that improve operational process effectiveness and control execution.

AbbVie successfully navigated Humira's patent cliff through home-grown immunology drugs Skyrizi and Rinvoq. By 2025, these two drugs generated combined annual sales exceeding $25 billion, replacing Humira's peak revenue and pushing total company revenue to record highs. AbbVie's free-cash-flow dividend payout ratio stands at 65%, lower than Pfizer's 89%.

Despite Comirnaty having distributed over five billion doses worldwide historically, today's revenue potential is considerably more constrained. Pfizer faces competition from Moderna and the Novavax-Sanofi protein vaccine for this smaller patient pool. The company's current share price sits 5.27% above its estimated value of $26.51, suggesting investors are paying a premium before actual uptake and commercial results become clear.

FDA approves Pfizer-BioNTech XFG-adapted COVID-19 vaccine for high-risk groups

Pfizer and BioNTech have received US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for their 2026-2027 COVID-19 vaccine targeting the XFG variant. The vaccine is approved for adults aged 65 and older, and individuals aged 5 to 64 with underlying conditions that increase risk of severe COVID-19 outcomes. The FDA approval is based on clinical, non-clinical and real-world data demonstrating the vaccine generates strong immune responses against currently circulating SARS-CoV-2 variants, including XFG and other contemporary lineages. The XFG variant was selected following FDA guidance for fall 2026 vaccine composition. The vaccine will begin shipping immediately and will be available in US pharmacies, hospitals and clinics within days. To date, more than five billion doses of COMIRNATY have been distributed globally.
