  • BS in Engineering and 5 years of related configuration management experience or MS in Engineering and 3 years of Experience. Ten years of related experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • 5+ years experience utilizing a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software system, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and database experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of LEAN and Continuous Improvement principles.
  • Experience managing design drawings, engineering changes and design/configuration audits.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings of piece parts and structure assemblies.
  • Progressive experience in managing Change Control Board process and supporting Engineering Change Boards and Change Control Boards (CCB’s)
Responsibilities
  • Establish vision for a merged Configuration Management team and execute the vision while minimizing cost impacts.
  • Review and analyze released engineering change data and coordinate changes to engineering documents with engineering, quality, support, manufacturing, and engineering data control activities.
  • Examine data related to engineering changes requests, engineering drawing changes, drawing first pass yield and associated processing time and provide recommendations for continuous improvements.
  • Participate in the coordination and administration of assigned configuration management activities relative to identification, control, and accounting for systems and/or equipment in accordance with contractual requirements. Ensure customer requirements implemented and review change accounting activity to ensure compliance with configuration management policies.
  • Chair the execution of change management, Engineering Review Boards, and Change Control Boards including design drawings, engineering changes and notices, and planning/conducting design audits.
  • Work closely with contracts, program management, systems engineers, production planners, quality managers and representatives, draftsmen and design/manufacturing engineers in a concurrent engineering environment.
  • Administer and maintain Configuration Management plans, processes, and policies.
  • Lead decisions on types of changes.
  • Support Program Management team and submits back to Contracts and customer.
  • Prepare for and conduct both internal and customer major configuration audits.
  • Manage release cycles for Drawings, models and Configured documents and administer changes.
  • Track configuration metrics.
  • Work with Contracts to audit and validate Program configuration.
  • Manage resources within the CM Group - Own requisition process, manage direct labor yield (DLY) and training, and allocate resources as required to planned and unplanned program activities. Conduct regularly scheduled 1:1’s, performance reviews, mentoring and provide/support development opportunities for direct reports; provide technical oversight of functional activities.
  • Standardize and improve Processes within CM Group - Drive Continuous Improvement (CI) for the configuration process focused on mistake proofing, reduction of Waste and reduced cycle times. Implement changes and improvements to Configuration and Change Management Systems across diverse organizations and product lines.
