Requirements
  • A SC license to practice veterinary medicine must be obtained within one year of employment
  • USDA accreditation must be obtained within one year of employment
  • Ph.D or equivalent
Responsibilities
  • Provide preventative, clinical, diagnostic, and surgical support and services to rodent and large research animals
  • Engage in ongoing consultation and training with investigators, lab personnel, DLAR staff, and other DLAR veterinarians
  • Deliver lectures and conduct wet lab exercises in support of the DCM academic mission
  • Work with internal and external researchers on funded projects and activities
  • Serve as a veterinarian member of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee
  • Assist with preparation for and conduct of triennial AAALAC, International site visits
  • Conduct post-approval monitoring activities
  • Participate in continuing education activities like conferences, webinars, and ongoing literature searches
  • Share after-hours and holiday emergency on-call services with other veterinary staff on a rotating basis
Desired Qualifications
  • Board certification by the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine is preferred
  • Experience working independently on clinical veterinary cases
  • Strong commitment to animal welfare
