Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
  • Registered Nurse Licensure (RN), BLS, and ACLS Provider Card
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience

Responsibilities
  • Oversees patient flow through designated clinical areas.
  • Maintains nursing guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
  • Maintains nursing operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Assures quality of care by developing and interpreting hospital and nursing division's philosophies and standards of care, enforcing adherence to state board of nursing and state nurse practice act requirements, and to other governing agency regulations, and measuring health outcomes against standards.
  • Maintains nursing staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training nurses and auxiliary staff.
  • Completes patient care requirements by assigning nursing and staff.
  • Maintains nursing staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.
  • Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and their friends and families.
  • Promotes patients’ independence by establishing patient care goals, teaching and counseling patients, and reinforcing patients’ understanding of disease, medications, and self-care.
  • Resolves patient needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by designing and implementing related procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Accounts for the collection of data to ensure performance improvement and optimal customer service standards.
  • Assures all staff meet mandatory continuing education requirements and yearly hospital based competencies
  • Provides insight on the unit(s) operations to nursing leadership to assist in the development of strategic planning and departmental expansion.
  • Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.
  • Clinical Management: Responsible for the management of the daily operation for patient care, compliance with nursing standards, patient satisfaction and clinical performance improvement.
  • Clinical Management: Responsible for patient flow throughout designated clinical areas. Identifies patient flow barriers both internal and external to the clinical operation and provides and/or implement improvement solutions.
  • Clinical Management: Responsible for assuring patient care is delivered in alignment with UHealth clinical enterprise mission, and department nursing goals and objectives.
  • Clinical Management: Responsible for ensuring Clinical sites are adequately staffed and personnel are appropriately trained for their given assignments in order to provide safe, quality care.
  • Clinical Management: Responsible for assuring staff compliance with mandatory education, licensure requirements, continuing education, and applicable certifications and professional practice standards.
  • Clinical Management: Responsible for the utilization and maintenance of appropriate nursing care plans and assessment standards.
  • Clinical Management: Responsible for assuring Clinical sites are prepared for Joint Commission surveys and inspections from regulatory agencies.
  • Clinical Management: Responsible for the collection of data to ensure performance improvement and optimal customer service standards.
  • Clinical Management: Coordinates with Administration the management of personnel to include recruitment, retention, employee incentive and evaluation and disciplinary actions.
  • Clinical Management: Provides insight on Clinical site operations to leadership to assist in development of strategic planning and departmental expansion.
  • Clinical Management: Assists with the development/revision and review of clinical policies and procedures.
  • Clinical Management: Will assist providers with direct patient care and phone triage duties whenever staffing needs arises.
  • Financial Management: Assist with capital and operational budget planning and budgetary compliance for the Practice sites.
  • Financial Management: Assist with timely and accurate data collection of patient volumes, unit expenses, unit revenue, performance improvement information, patient satisfaction and other pertinent information that demonstrates operations of the Clinical sites.
  • Financial Management: Provides timely reports, as requested on data collected
  • Financial Management: Tracking of clinical practice site operational expenses
  • Financial Management: Maintains appropriate records of employee attendance, tardiness and non-productive time such as sick and vacation time, administrative leave and leave of absences
  • Financial Management: Maintains records and systematic management of inventory such as biomedical equipment, capital equipment, supplies and miscellaneous computer hardware
  • Financial Management: Oversees maintenance of medical supplies, equipment repair and pharmaceutical stock.
  • Staff Competency, Education, and Performance Evaluation: Assures all staff meet mandatory continuing education requirements, and yearly OBGYN specialty- based competencies.
  • Staff Competency, Education, and Performance Evaluation: Formally evaluates each staff member yearly. Maintains documentation of job performance, personnel actions, and additional professional contributions to the Clinical sites and/or Department
  • Staff Competency, Education, and Performance Evaluation: Assures cross-training to other suites is documented and accurate.
  • Staff Competency, Education, and Performance Evaluation: Maintains educational documentation requirements of the Department
  • Staff Competency, Education, and Performance Evaluation: Provides ongoing coaching to all staff with the goal of improving critical thinking and technical skills
  • Staff Competency, Education, and Performance Evaluation: Ensure staff are appropriately trained and have knowledge-base of all clinical web tools and applications necessary for the clinical job functions.
  • Performance Improvement: Assists in development and implementation of performance improvement programs in compliance with JCAHO standards and other regulatory agencies.
  • Performance Improvement: Collects data to evaluate patient flow and trends. Through data collections, identifies changing needs for internal processes, and implements change accordingly. Collaborates with leadership for processes flow issues external to the nursing staff.

  • Performance Improvement: Investigates clinical and practice variances and conducts follow-up action plans as appropriate.
