Requirements
  • Master Degree in Materials Engineering preferred from an accredited University.
  • Previous experience in a similar position and/or in a complex industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of superalloys: main properties, heat treatments, inspection methods and material testing.
  • Knowledge of main superalloys manufacturing processes especially Forging and Casting technologies.
  • Knowledge of special processes, NDT, Laboratory evaluation and testing
  • Fluent written and spoken Italian and English.
  • Work Visa, according to local regulation, is required.
Responsibilities
  • Interface with Design Eng. & GSC and define requirements for materials and special processes including material characterization, mechanical properties, heat treatment, LAB testing and as necessary to ensure proper quality of components.
  • Define standard & unique drawing notes relevant to Materials and Processes, review engineering drawings, manage requirements for products validation and evaluate collected evidence.
  • Ensure that inspection procedures, acceptance standard and processing instructions are suitable, complete and properly controlled during application of manufacturing procedures.
  • Perform audits, both internally and suppliers, review documentation provided, evaluate results against GEA and AA requirements.
  • Review material chemistry, physical and mechanical properties, both internally and @ suppliers, to detect trends that may indicate undesirable changes in product quality.
  • Support resolution of material processing related issues encountered during manufacturing, both internally and @ suppliers, with impact on the life cycle of the component.
  • In agreement with Design Eng., after review of quality records and properties trends, determine proper disposition of discrepant hardware through case records.
  • Support Continuous Improvement initiatives through Lean Methodology to assure and maintain Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost of aeroengine components.
  • Support research and development programs on materials, processes and technologies. Execute developmental testing programs and hardware test campaign to qualify part processing.
  • Support collaborative cross-functional teams (materials, design, manufacturing) to reach the technical maturity of advanced materials and / or manufacturing technologies using the TRL / MRL process.

  • Familiarity with shop operations and quality systems.
  • Proven self-starter and independent worker able to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Fast in action but with detailed technical review and good documentation.
