The Northrop Grumman Microelectronics Design & Applications (MDA) business area is leading efforts to transform computing, combining the unique properties of superconductivity and quantum mechanics to develop revolutionary energy-efficient computing systems. Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) Engineering & Sciences (E&S) is seeking candidates for the position of Hardware and Science Engineering Manager 1 to support the NGMC MDA in Beavercreek, Ohio.
What You’ll Get to Do:
This is a dual-role technical manager position. Management duties will require tasking and coordination of approximately 6-10 staff, with process support and resource co‐ordination with functional homeroom management. The manager will also be expected to perform technical work on programs. It is anticipated that the split between program and functional duties will be approximately 80 program/20 functional, on average. The direct program work may include technical work, IPT leadership, or any other appropriate technical function.
Key roles and responsibilities include:
- Lead a team of 6-10 technical staff in management role. Administrative management responsibilities include staffing, performance and compensation management, and career development.
- Execute in a direct contributor or technical leadership role supporting MDA programs in one of the following areas: Materials science; modeling, design or test of superconducting electronics; quantum mechanics; low temperature physics; computer architectures; processing/memory subsystems; large-scale high performance computing systems; analog, RF, analog or digital design.
- Work in cooperation with program management to ensure successful execution against cost and schedule targets. Provide technical leadership to the team as they execute their own program roles. Ensure proper engineering processes and procedures are employed.
- Work with peers and training leads to identify critical skill shortfalls; develop appropriate technical training; and improve team performance.
This position requires fulltime work onsite in Beavercreek, Ohio.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with 5 years of related professional experience; Master of Science degree within related engineering field (STEM) plus 3 years of professional experience.
- Experience in one or more of the following:
- Materials science; modeling, design, or test of superconducting electronics; quantum mechanics; low temperature physics; computer architectures; processing/memory subsystems; large-scale high performance computing systems; analog, RF, or digital design.
- Strong leadership qualities, including excellent communication and collaboration, team engagement, and organizational skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with polygraph clearance per business requirements. US Citizenship is a prerequisite.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s of Science degree in Physics, Engineering, Business Management, Engineering Leadership, or equivalent.
- 5 years of experience in a multi-disciplined science/engineering environment
- Demonstrated success leading high performance teams as technical, integrated product team, and/or functional leader.
- Experience with Lean-Agile development for modelling and/or hardware systems
- Experience leading teams in a functional, programmatic, or technical capacity
- Active TS/SCI with polygraph security clearance.
Salary Range: $120,800.00 - $181,200.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
