- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of Certified Nursing Assistant Training Program or equivalent documented nursing training required
- Nursing Assistant-Certified (NA-C) required
- Medical Assistant-Registered (MA-R) also required (Overlake Hospital will sponsor this licensure)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers certification required
- One year recent experience in a health care setting involving patient contact is preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology and EKG preferred
- Computer familiarity is preferred
- Knowledge and handling of hospital equipment, record keeping
- Ability to read, write, and speak in the English language
- The Nursing Technician (NT) is a nursing student licensed under chapter 18.79.350 RCW, who is currently enrolled in good standing in a nursing program approved by the commission and has not graduated
- High school graduate and completion of at least one clinical quarter of documented nursing training required. Competency verified during orientation via competencies and skills checklist. Maintains requirements to qualify for employment as a Nurse Technician (NT). Must provide documented evidence of current enrollment and satisfactory completion of required clinical quarters in a nursing education program approved by the state board of nursing on commission in the state in which the program is located. Must provide written documentation of current level of education preparation and his/her knowledge and skills. Must remain in good standing with nursing program and provide proof at the end of every term.
- Registered with the Washington State Nursing Commission as a Nursing Technician is required
- BLS Health Care Provider CPR Certification also required
- Knowledge of medical terminology

- Knowledge and handling of hospital equipment, record keeping preferred
- Ability to read, write and speak in the English language
- Exposure to and contact with soaps, sterilants, body substances
- Provide direct patient care to patients and their families under the supervision of a Registered Nurse
- The Nursing Technician provides direct patient care to patients and their families under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, not independently
- The Nursing Technician follows the scope of practice as defined in WAC’s and facility standards
- The Nursing Technician maintains competency through orientation and skills checklist
- Candidates who have not yet completed their first clinical rotation have the option to start as Patient Care Technician and later transition to a Nursing Technician
- Exposure to hospital environment and related substances
- Ability to perform tasks under supervision and escalate as needed
- One year recent experience in a health care setting involving patient contact is preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology and EKG preferred
- Computer familiarity is preferred

Overlake welcomes 2 new senior leaders. Overlake Medical Center & Clinics has announced the appointments of two new senior leaders: James "Jamie" Boswell and Dino Johnson. Effective March 23, Boswell assumed the role of Overlake Clinics president. He is a board-certified hospitalist and has been a member of Overlake's medical staff since 2005. Over the past two decades, he has held several leadership roles, including medical director of Overlake Hospitalists, chair of the Department of Medicine, and, most recently, chief of staff. Boswell will continue to practice as a hospitalist. Effective April 20, Johnson joined Overlake as chief operating officer, bringing more than 20 years of health care leadership experience. Johnson previously served at St. Anthony Hospital in Gig Harbor and St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way, both of which are part of Virginia Mason Franciscan Health.
