The ideal candidate is a seasoned nursing leader that is comfortable managing in a matrix environment with a proven track record in successfully managing all nursing functions across multiple locations. This leader will hold direct responsibility for all nursing operations at HSHS’s flagship hospital along with matrix responsibility across the market.
This Market CNO should have a passion for boosting morale amongst teams and coaching the next generation of nursing leaders. This leader will ideally also have a proven track record participating in the magnet designation journey. The Central Illinois Market CNO will report directly to the Central Illinois Market President & CEO with matrixed reporting to the HSHS System Vice President, Chief Nursing Executive.
Market structure:
• Five Illinois HSHS Hospitals and the Children’s Hospital on the flagship campus.
-Includes a Level 3 NICU
• Based in Springfield, IL

• Salary Range: $295,000 - $347,000
-A successful candidate's placement within the range will be based on several factors including direct healthcare CNO experience, certifications, and education.
Minimum Requirements:
• Master’s degree in business, nursing or healthcare administration or a related field is required.
-If Master’s degree is in business, this leader must have a BSN.
• 3 years of Acute Care Chief Nursing leadership experience is required.
• Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of practice is required within 90 days of date of hire.
• Experience with the magnet journey is strongly preferred.

In 2023, HSHS entered a new era of healthcare in Decatur. The hospital has begun to implement a modernization plan that features a major infrastructure renovation to update clinical spaces, improve patient room amenities and improve the patient experience. This latest investment, totaling approximately $90 million, will result in the modernization of the clinical space to enable hospital colleagues to continue the Mission of the Hospital Sisters to serve our current patients and future generations. The project is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2026.
