Requirements
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology.
  • Must have working knowledge of cardiac catheterization diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; cine film development; pressure injector; guidewires; catheters; sterile procedure techniques; physiological data computer; and other equipment unique to the cardiac catheterization lab environment.
  • Must have knowledge of cardiac life support and respond to emergency situations within the interventional areas.
  • For staff involved in the care of age-specific groups, knowledge of the bio-psychosocial needs of adult, geriatric and pediatric patients is essential.
  • Special knowledge is required in growth and development needs of pediatric/geriatric patients where applicable.
  • Experience and use of diagnostic and interventional cardiac/vascular imaging are preferred.
  • Orientation is given to all newly employed personnel, as well as educational preparation for specialty areas.
  • Interventional Radiology Experience Preferred.
  • Must hold current registration as a diagnostic technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists “R.T. (R)” with current registry in Cardiovascular Interventional Technologist (CV) or Vascular Interventional (VI).
  • If not currently registered in CV or VI, must obtain this registry within 16 months of start date in the Interventional Radiology department.
  • For the Heart Cath Lab: Must hold current registration 1) as a diagnostic technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists “R.T. (R)”, or 2) Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS), or 3) Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES), as of the start date in the Heart Cath Lab.
  • Must be currently certified in basic cardiac life support (BCLS) or be recertified during orientation period.
  • Must be currently certified (or scheduled for certification or recertification training) in ACLS if employed in the Heart Catheterization Lab.
  • Must have ARRT (R).
  • Preferably ARRT(R)(CV)
Responsibilities
  • Ensures correct usage of cardiac and vascular imaging equipment;
  • Monitors patients physiologically;
  • Maintains clean and orderly work area;
  • Monitors and maintains aseptic technique within the sterile field;
  • Ensures computerized collection and generation of patient data;
  • Ensures correct usage of fluoroscopic and cineangiographic equipment;
  • Performs imaging processing; and properly identifies patient images and records;
  • Performs compliant coding and billing for procedures and supplies;
  • Utilizes ongoing assessment and anticipation of patients' emotional and physiological needs;
  • Responds appropriately in emergency situations;
  • Keeps abreast of current developments in the Cardiovascular Interventional field to include procedures and equipment through independent study and continuing education.
  • Assists with cardiopulmonary resuscitation;
  • Maintains Integrity Compliance Standards.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Dec. 6, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Each of Covenant Health's nine acute-care hospitals in East Tennessee has earned an 'A' hospital safety grade for Fall 2024 from The Leapfrog Group, marking the second consecutive semester all facilities achieved this top rating. The Leapfrog Group collects and reports data related to safety, quality, and other aspects of hospitals' performance. Twice a year, Leapfrog assigns safety grades based on over 30 measures of errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.
