Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in marketing, business, communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field.
  • Seven years of experience in marketing, corporate communications, news media, public relations, or journalism.
  • Strong creative and professional writing skills.
  • High proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with customer relationship management systems.
  • Familiarity with search engine optimization and search engine marketing best practices.
  • Familiarity with web-based content management systems and marketing analytics tools.
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript development and constraints.
  • Strong independent project management skills.
  • Firm understanding of print production and management.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with competing priorities under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to identify trends and insights and optimize spend and performance based on those insights.
  • Ability to think critically and exercise independent judgment and discretion.
  • Strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking.
  • Ability to manage the greater team and demonstrate strong management skills.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the creation and execution of strategic marketing plans supporting strategic business priorities and operational goals.
  • Lead marketing and communications initiatives for clinical, academic, and research components.
  • Supervise team members.
  • Manage campaign budgets and place media buys across print, digital, out-of-home, and broadcast formats.
  • Manage marketing campaigns across multiple channels.
  • Plan and execute social media strategies supporting assigned services.
  • Manage internal and external communications and media relations.
  • Develop copy and content that can be repurposed across multiple outreach channels.
  • Provide counsel and thought leadership to senior leadership on marketing, communications, public relations, and media relations.
  • Write, copy-edit, proofread, and repurpose content marketing deliverables, or oversee and direct their creation.
  • Serve as the primary spokesperson on media matters.
  • Develop and manage a content and editorial calendar.
  • Support the creation of digital graphics and the basic design and layout of materials.
  • Manage marketing automation and digital marketing campaigns.
  • Measure and report outreach campaign performance against return-on-investment and key performance indicator goals.
  • Plan and execute search engine optimization, search engine marketing, and display advertising campaigns.
  • Develop content and campaigns across owned and earned social channels, including posts, tweets, status updates, photos, and videos.
  • Develop and update company presentations using PowerPoint and existing or new templates.
  • Manage and direct conference and event activities.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with media contacts, organizations, and key influencers.
  • Manage and coordinate marketing strategies in response to changing market and competitive conditions.
  • Oversee database management, reporting and analytics, industry trend and best-practice monitoring, marketing materials, and trade show and event support.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of junior members.
  • Develop and manage the budget, including defending budget recommendations and planning work goals, measurements, and training requirements.
  • Provide responsive service to internal clients.
  • Manage dissemination of WVU Medicine policies and management systems.
