Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology.
  • Required modality-specific work experience is 0 to 2 years.
  • Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists is required; candidates who are not registered must obtain the registry within 6 months of hire.
  • Licensure from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification is required, either from the American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers or an American Red Cross CPR/AED certification for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
  • Ability to perform the job functions while standing, walking, climbing ladders or step stools, working indoors and in confined or cramped spaces, kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting, pinching, reaching, and using both hands, arms, and legs.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds unassisted and lift or move patients and objects weighing approximately 350 pounds with or without assistance as specified.
  • Ability to maintain corrected 20/40 vision, near and distance vision, color discrimination, depth perception, peripheral vision, and hearing acuity with correction.
  • Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements and maintain tactile and olfactory sensory functions.
  • Ability to qualify physically for respirator use through medical evaluation initially and annually.
  • Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
  • Ability to learn and use new processes, tools, and equipment as required.
Responsibilities
  • Perform high-quality diagnostic radiographic examinations according to physician orders and established protocols.
  • Obtain diagnostic images accurately and efficiently for physician interpretation.
  • Prepare and administer contrast agents as directed and under physician supervision.
  • Verify patient identification, examination orders, and relevant clinical information before procedures.
  • Position patients appropriately and operate radiographic equipment safely and effectively.
  • Maintain patient safety, comfort, and privacy throughout examinations.
  • Review images for quality and completeness and obtain additional images when necessary.
  • Follow radiation safety practices and applicable departmental and regulatory standards.
  • Document examinations and patient information accurately in the appropriate electronic systems.
  • Maintain equipment and work areas according to department standards and infection prevention protocols.
