Founding Backend Engineer

At Parcha, we are building the automation layer for enterprise fintechs and banks. We leverage public and private data sets to automate complex processes, eliminating bottlenecks for operations and compliance teams. Recently backed by a $5M seed round from Kindred & Initialized Capital, our founding team brings decades of experience from industry giants like Brex, Twitter, Coinbase, and Google.

We're seeking a Founding Backend Engineer to join our San Francisco-based team and own our backend systems.

Role Overview

As a critical member of our engineering team, you'll report directly to the CTO and spearhead the development and scaling of our Python-based systems. Your expertise will be crucial in building robust, scalable architectures that power our AI-driven automation workflows. This role offers the exciting opportunity to tackle complex technical challenges and shape the future of AI in a fast-paced startup environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, high-performance Python services and APIs to interface with our AI-driven workflows, orchestration, and benchmarking

• Develop and optimize asynchronous workflows to handle complex, distributed tasks efficiently.

• Create and maintain RESTful and webhook-based APIs for seamless third-party integrations.

• Architect and build robust systems capable of handling enterprise-grade workloads and security requirements.

• Implement and optimize complex LLM-based workflows.

• Collaborate with everyone in our team to ensure system designs and implementations meet product requirements and performance expectations

• Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development practices, including code reviews, testing strategies, and deployment processes.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in backend engineering, with a focus on Python-based systems

• Deep expertise in designing and implementing scalable, distributed systems

• Proficiency in asynchronous programming and API development (e.g., FastAPI, Flask, or Django)

• Strong understanding of asynchronous executors and workflow management systems like Celery, Prefect, and similar technology.

• Experience with cloud platforms (preferably Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)

• Familiarity with message queues and event-driven architectures

• Solid grasp of security best practices and experience implementing them in production environments

• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to optimize system performance

• Strong communication skills and experience collaborating in cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a fast-paced startup environment, particularly in early-stage (0 to 1) product development

• Track record of scaling systems to handle rapid growth and increasing complexity

• Familiarity with AI/LLM technologies and their integration into production systems

• Experience with microservices architecture and API gateway patterns
