Requirements
  • A Grade 12 Diploma is required.
  • A 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate is required.
  • A minimum of 1–2 years of work experience in an industrial process company is preferred.
  • An EOCP Water Ticket is preferred.
  • Demonstrated basic mechanical aptitude is required.
  • Applicants must reside in Squamish or the Lower Mainland Vancouver area.
  • Applicants must be prepared to work 12-hour shifts on a rotational basis.
  • Applicants must be physically able to carry out operations field tasks in the facility.
Responsibilities
  • Participate in daily pre-start team meetings.
  • Complete the Trainee Operations Technician training programs according to the Training Plan.
  • Attend firefighting and emergency response training.
  • Train to operate and monitor process systems and equipment associated with gas processing, utilities, storage and loading, and safety systems.
  • Carry out directed general surveillance and routine equipment inspections to understand proper operation, identify malfunctions, and learn to arrange required maintenance.
  • Learn to read and interpret Process Flow Diagrams, Piping and Instrument Diagrams, and Cause and Effect Matrices.
  • Train and participate in the Permit to Work system, including preparing and isolating equipment for safe access by maintenance crews.
  • Learn to analyze samples and readings, observe equipment gauges and instruments, and record data.
  • Gain experience interacting with other work groups and contractors through the Permit to Work system.
  • Support the shift team as part of the Commissioning and Start-Up team.
  • Undertake site HSSE inductions and safety programs.
  • Demonstrate commitment to HSSE and take ownership of assigned tasks.
  • Accept responsibility for delivering assigned tasks and targets.
  • Work collaboratively within a team environment.
