Requirements
  • Technical degree(s) preferred (e.g., physics, mathematics, engineering, chemistry, computer science).
  • 1.5-3 years full-time experience in a high-pace environment such as management consulting, investment banking, VC or start-up.
  • Knowledge of/experience with climate technologies (e.g., renewables, electrolysis, carbon capture, ‘green’ steel, low-carbon chemicals production) preferred.
  • Knowledge of the chemical processes underpinning these technologies’ efficiencies and cost drivers is a plus.
  • PowerPoint, Excel modeling, presentation/public speaking, industry research.
Responsibilities
  • Own and drive a wide variety of pressing and strategic tasks in our Quantum Solutions & Business Org.
  • Market facing work: E.g., develop sales and educational materials for potential clients based on your use case work. Such tasks require close collaboration with PsiQuantum’s Business Development and Applications Teams.
  • Client-facing Quantum Project Owner (QPO) work: E.g., own and lead project management for client projects in partnership with a technical lead (for example, a client project could be developing quantum algorithms for a specific use case). We strive to adhere to project charters and achieve valuable results for our clients’ businesses while building a strong and collaborative relationship with these clients. As Quantum Project Owner, the success of these projects is the responsibility of you and the technical lead. Such tasks require close collaboration with colleagues from the Applications and client teams.
  • Use case work: E.g., take ownership of one specific/or class of use cases and develop a perspective on (1) potential quantum advantages (2) financial/business impact (3) relevant clients (4) feasibility (5) potential monetization strategies etc. Such tasks require close collaboration PsiQuantum’s Applications, Business Development, and Solutions Teams. Besides internal collaboration, these tasks may require build-up of external partnerships and collaborations on the topic, e.g., in academia.
  • Strategic work: E.g., work on and own GTM, pricing, fundraising, vertical integration, org and other strategic priorities. These tasks may entail working with a wide range of teams and colleagues, including our C-level and founders.

PsiQuantum is developing the world's first commercially useful quantum computer with a photonics-based architecture, leveraging pre-existing manufacturing processes and infrastructure. The company's approach focuses on quantum error correction and solving real-world problems in fields such as medicine, energy, and finance.

What believers are saying

  • The $940 million investment from Australian and Queensland governments positions PsiQuantum for substantial growth and innovation.
  • The establishment of PsiQuantum's Asia-Pacific headquarters in Brisbane is expected to create 400 jobs and numerous PhD positions, boosting local talent and the economy.
  • PsiQuantum's ambitious plan to operationalize a million-qubit quantum computer by 2027 could revolutionize industries such as renewable energy, healthcare, and transportation.

What critics are saying

  • The high financial stakes and public investment in PsiQuantum create pressure for rapid and successful development, which may lead to operational and strategic challenges.
  • The complexity of scaling a fault-tolerant quantum computer to a million qubits poses significant technical risks and uncertainties.

What makes PsiQuantum unique

  • PsiQuantum's focus on building the world's first fault-tolerant, utility-scale quantum computer sets it apart from competitors who are still in the experimental or small-scale phase.
  • The company's photonics-based approach to quantum computing, leveraging advanced semiconductor manufacturing infrastructure, offers a unique technological edge.
  • Significant financial backing from both the Australian federal and Queensland state governments, along with strategic partnerships with local universities, provides a robust support system for rapid development.
