Job Description Summary
The Women Service’s Nurse Educator will serve as the clinical and administrative liaison, while also serving as part of leadership of the LD, Postpartum, and Nursery Units. The goal is to maximize the efficient and cost-effective use of health resources while centering services on the patient. They will identify best practice models as well as develop, implement, and oversee Quality and Core Measure Initiatives. They will be responsible for creating and coordinating the orientation process for all new nurses and assessing their competencies. Develops and maintains an effective staff education program, coordinating individualized orientation and continuing education for all staff. Will also develop and maintain a community and patient prenatal education program and materials based on population served. Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies are met through the provision of orientation sessions and the annual safety training required for all employees. Collaborates with nursing administration and compliance teams to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and facility policies. Facilitates training affiliation agreements with local nursing schools and develops, reviews, and revises policies as required. Maintains knowledge of trends and developments in the field through ongoing education and attending meetings and conferences as assigned. Needs Assessment and Performance Gap Analysis: Conducts organizational needs assessments and performance gap analysis on an ongoing basis to determine training plans and knowledge management needs. Additional responsibilities will include assuming responsibility for department operations such as making appropriate assignments, coordinating care, resolving issues, functioning as the resource nurse, participating in staff decisions, rounding on patients, maintaining regulatory compliance, and staffing as needed.

Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Equivalent. Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
Experience: 3 years progressive work experience and 2+ years clinical education experience preferred.
Licensure: Must have a RN licensure in the state of South Carolina.
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and STABLE mandatory. BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP instructor certifications must be obtained within 6 months of hire. AWHONN Fetal Monitoring and STABLE instructor certifications are mandatory within 18 months of hire.

Additional Job Description
Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred. RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date. Refer to policy A141 for more details. A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse required. Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required
