Requirements
  • A high school diploma is required.
  • Must be certified as a security officer by the District of Columbia.
  • At least one year of experience in a customer-service-related field is required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license without major violations.
  • Must be flexible to work after hours and weekends as needed.
  • Must have strong problem-solving, time-management, communication, oral and written communication, active listening, and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to establish strong working relationships in a team setting.
  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize tasks with strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be self-directed and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch, twist, and reach.
  • Must be able to push, pull, or lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to perform continuous repetitive motions and work indoors and outdoors under variable temperature and noise conditions, around fumes, hazards, dust, mites, chemicals, and biohazards.
Responsibilities
  • Complete hourly patrol routes of the property using the security system.
  • Control access for guests, tenants, and vendors.
  • Ensure that property is not damaged.
  • Conduct routine foot patrols in and around the building.
  • Observe and report safety conditions.
  • Issue banning notices to rule violators.
  • Maintain files for banning notices and notify management when necessary.
  • Maintain the appearance of the two plaza kiosks.
  • Enforce the no-dogs-on-the-plaza policy.
  • Keep information such as Kiss N Ride details, contact phone numbers, and rules of conduct updated and communicate it to guests as needed.
  • Report unknown work occurring at the property to management.
  • Immediately notify ParkX, commercial property management, and residential property management about illegal parking on the plaza.
  • Communicate to guests that fire-access areas must remain accessible for fire trucks and ambulances.
  • Close loading-dock doors as needed.
  • Report concerns to management.
  • Assist the Marketing team before, during, and after events at Reston and Loudoun Station as needed.
  • Manage the valet at Reston Station and ensure cars are not parked on the plaza or down ramp.
  • Ensure that the plaza marketing plan is followed during special events at Reston Station.
  • Manage traffic entering the plaza and keep it moving at Reston Station.
