Role Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Investment Analyst to join an Event Driven team. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of experience focused on event driven investing, with a strong academic background and a proven track record of excellence. The Analyst will be involved in all aspects of the investment process including idea generation, fundamental research and analysis, position sizing and risk management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Generate actionable investment ideas by identifying and evaluating opportunities across a broad spectrum of corporate events, including mergers, restructurings, spin-offs, legal/regulatory changes, capital markets transactions and other special situations.
- Conduct in-depth fundamental research and analysis to assess key risks, expected returns, potential catalysts and timing of identified opportunities.
- Source new ideas by monitoring corporate announcements, ownership changes and other public information; build and maintain a comprehensive database of event driven situations to filter opportunities for further analysis.
- Develop and maintain detailed financial models and valuation analyses to support investment theses.
- Monitor industry trends, competitive dynamics, and macroeconomic factors to understand and anticipate potential impacts on investment performance.
- Collaborate with the portfolio manager on portfolio construction, risk management, and position sizing, with an emphasis on identifying asymmetric risk-reward profiles.
- Participate in meetings with company management teams, industry experts, and sell-side analysts.
- Continuously refine and adapt investment theses based on new information, market developments, and event outcomes.
Qualifications:
- 5-10 years of experience focused on event driven investing, with a strong understanding of various corporate actions and their market implications.
- Exceptional analytical and quantitative skills with a deep understanding of financial statements, modeling, and valuation techniques.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
- High level of intellectual curiosity, strong work ethic, and a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced, and dynamic environment.
Salary Range
$150,000—$200,000 USD
