Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Coursework at an accredited vocational-technical or trade school is required.
  • At least 3 years of experience with supermarket energy management system (EMS) systems is required.
  • At least 5 years of commercial refrigeration experience is required, especially experience with parallel rack systems; carbon dioxide experience is a plus.
  • Experience and proficient knowledge of supermarket refrigeration are required.
  • EPA I and II certifications are required.
  • A valid driver's license and good driving record are required.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, is required.
  • Expert knowledge of refrigeration, ice machines, electrical systems, single systems, parallel rack systems, display cases, walk-ins, and EMS wiring and programming is required.
  • Ability to troubleshoot commercial and supermarket refrigeration equipment efficiently is required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to read refrigeration, electrical, and plumbing blueprints are required.
  • Ability to multitask, organize and prioritize work, and build effective relationships with customers, management, crew, and team members is required.
  • Ability to travel and work overnight and overtime as needed is required.
Responsibilities
  • Start up supermarket refrigeration, heating, and ventilation equipment efficiently, accurately, and on time.
  • Assist with Energy Optimization projects, including supermarket retro-commissioning, EMS upgrades, leak detection upgrades, and gas conversion projects.
  • Perform evacuations of parallel racks after verifying pressure tests.
  • Perform EMS wiring and programming for EMS systems from all manufacturers.
  • Perform full start-up of new parallel refrigeration systems and individual systems.
  • Lead small projects such as single-case and condenser changeouts.
  • Work with local branch Service and Construction Managers between projects to assist with problematic stores and provide training for junior technicians and foremen.
  • Function as the subject matter expert for processes, procedures, and projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • EMS certification is preferred.
  • Experience with carbon dioxide refrigeration systems is a plus.
