  • Hold one of the following current, active certifications upon hire: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer with a Pediatric Echocardiography specialty through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography; Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer through Cardiovascular Credentialing International; or Advanced Cardiac Sonographer through Cardiovascular Credentialing International.
  • Obtain the Advanced Cardiac Sonographer certification through Cardiovascular Credentialing International within 365 days of entry into the role if it is not held upon hire.
  • Document at least 15 hours of echocardiography-related continuing medical education over the three years before application submission.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform the essential functions of the role and provide care to the population served.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of life span growth and development, patient-status assessment, department policies and procedures, cardiac anatomy and physiology, and congenital/pediatric and adult echocardiography.
  • Demonstrate effective communication and human-relations skills and the ability to educate and train other technologists.
  • Meet the stated physical requirements, including the ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects or patients weighing up to 100 pounds, with or without accommodation.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare preliminary echocardiography reports for cardiologists daily to support quality improvement and ensure consistency and completeness.
  • Rescan and repeat exams identified through real-time quality control or deemed inadequate by physicians.
  • Provide targeted education to improve staff skills and streamline cardiologist workflow.
  • Coordinate daily staff assignments and inpatient, outpatient, and special-procedure workflows.
  • Monitor staffing and work with leadership on changes needed to maintain efficient operations.
  • Provide immediate support to staff during live scanning by addressing questions and offering guidance.
  • Assist with inpatient and outpatient preliminary reporting.
  • Participate in weekly Lunch and Learn lectures and seminars on new echocardiography techniques, including vendor and professional conferences.
  • Schedule one-to-one scanning with staff as identified by the Advanced Cardiac Sonographer and physicians.
  • Conduct daily quality-control evaluations and submit findings to leadership for staff development.
  • Schedule weekly film reviews with staff sonographers.
  • Conduct reading-room quality control with onboarding first-year Fellows, refining second- and third-year Fellows, and Attending physicians.
  • Provide direct patient care and access or administer medications within the scope of practice and applicable state law.
