Requirements
  • Candidates must hold a doctorate degree or equivalent.
  • Candidates must demonstrate national prominence and scientific leadership in sports medicine, neuroscience, injury biomechanics, or human performance research.
  • Candidates must have a clear and prolific record of scientific publications.
  • Candidates must have detailed knowledge of advanced experimental techniques in injury biomechanics and human performance.
  • Candidates must have a PhD in bioinformatics, computer science, biological or physical science, or a related discipline and five years of experience in bioinformatics applications obtained after achieving the PhD.
  • Candidates must be able to perform basic programming using Perl, Python, or Java, statistical programming, web development, and database querying through SQL.
Responsibilities
  • Perform a wide range of highly technical and complex bioinformatics procedures.
  • Design and develop software, databases, and interfaces for analyzing and manipulating research data.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental results.
  • Collaborate with researchers to develop high-throughput data processing and analysis capabilities.
  • Recommend alternative approaches to improve the quality of results.
  • Direct and guide database searches and computational analysis of resulting data.
  • Provide direct technical customer support by helping guide, implement, and maintain improvements to bioinformatics software, databases, and interfaces.
  • Work with the bioinformatics team to diagnose and fix related issues.
  • Lead projects and manage and oversee other team members.
  • Assist in preparing grant and other funding applications with approval from the direct supervisor and faculty director.
  • Conduct independent research projects and take responsibility for specific areas, methodology development, user support, or funded proposals as assigned.
  • Pursue extramural federal funding to support center research initiatives.
  • Support collaborations with clinician scientists in the Sports Performance And Research Center and the Department of Orthopaedics.
  • Perform other responsibilities as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with advanced analytics, including machine learning, artificial intelligence, or related statistical modeling of human movement data.
  • Experience in coupled biomechanics and neuroscience as it relates to injury epidemiology, preferably involving injury prevention, rehabilitation, or sport performance research.
  • Experience with neuroimaging, electromyography, electroencephalography, magnetoencephalography neuromodulation, software engineering, and best-practice analytical methods for managing, storing, analyzing, and visualizing biometric data.
