Requirements
  • A Master's degree in Nursing is required, with education verified.
  • At least two years of nursing experience are required.
  • An unencumbered registered nurse license is required.
  • An active, unencumbered license in the designated state is required.
  • The employee must comply with site-specific orientation and onboarding requirements.
  • The employee must maintain required credentials in accordance with state and federal legislative requirements and college accreditation requirements.
  • The employee must be able to work under stress and meet deadlines.
  • The employee must be able to work independently and demonstrate self-motivation.
  • The employee must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The employee must be able to learn and use innovative technology.
  • The employee must work for 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m. shifts 2–3 days per week as needed during the student clinical rotation.
  • The employee must complete prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer and be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Responsibilities
  • Teach and mentor students during experiential clinical coursework.
  • Provide expertise in an assigned content area and maintain current knowledge in the field.
  • Participate in implementing the philosophy and goals of the program.
  • Foster student learning through innovative teaching practices, including teaching students how to perform duties in the clinical setting.
  • Make appropriate student referrals for remediation or other needs using WGU policies and procedures.
  • Communicate with assigned student coaches or preceptors about student progress and concerns.
  • Provide final review and approval of students' clinical time.
  • Offer proactive support and outreach to assigned students.
  • Use technology-based teaching and communication platforms to support students' competency development.
  • Submit electronic clinical student evaluation forms after completion of the clinical intensive.
  • Conduct in-person and remote methods of student evaluation.
  • Maintain working knowledge and understanding of relevant state regulations.
  • Support students' attainment of knowledge and skills through learning experiences.
  • Utilize resources to address student concerns and inquiries.
  • Provide feedback regarding discipline and practice leadership.
  • Support initiatives within the specialty and change-management practices.
  • Support the Health Placement Team in securing clinical partnerships.
Desired Qualifications
  • A doctorate or terminal degree in a specific content area is preferred.
  • Strong experience with distance education and distance-learning students is preferred.
  • Prior experience in clinical teaching or nursing education is preferred.
  • A terminal degree and all applicable licenses or certifications are preferred.
