About the Role
As an Electrical Engineer, Power Conversion at Tau Motors, you will be critical in designing and integrating advanced power systems. You will focus on developing, testing, and refining our Ion and Gamma platforms, contributing to Tau Motors’ mission to redefine clean energy solutions. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, system, and software engineers, to ensure our energy systems meet the highest performance, safety, and reliability standards.
What You’ll Do

Lead the design, build, test, and integration of both our Ion and Gamma platforms.
- Take ownership of schematic capture and PCB layout for high-voltage, high-power circuits.
- Lead the bench bring-up, debugging, and validation of prototypes.
- Collaborate with mechanical and system engineers on thermal management and packaging solutions for power electronics systems.
- Write and maintain technical documentation, including test plans, validation reports, and schematics.
- Develop embedded software to implement advanced control algorithms in power converters, ensuring real-time constraints are met.
- Perform hands-on testing, debugging, and optimization of power converter systems.
What You’ll Bring
- Hands-on experience in power converter testing, debugging, and analysis.
- Strong understanding of mixed signal circuit designs, schematics, and detailed component selection.
- Experience in performing PCB layout for high-voltage and high-power circuits.
- Ability to develop embedded software for timing-constrained control algorithms.
- Familiarity with microcontroller peripherals and interfaces (PWM, ADC, SPI, CAN) for bare-metal and real-time operating systems.
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally with mechanical and system engineers to address thermal management and packaging requirements.
- Excellent written communication skills, particularly for technical documentation and testing reports.
- Ability to translate high-level technical requirements into corresponding test cases and validation processes.
- Knowledge of scripting and control automation for test and validation processes.
- Demonstrated passion and ability to learn new skills and adapt to evolving project needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Two + years of industry experience.
- Hands-on experience with power converter testing, debugging, and analysis.
- Comfort with mixed signal circuit designs, schematics, and detailed component selection.
- Experience performing PCB layout for high-voltage and high-power circuits.

US Salary Information
$95,000.00 - $150,000.00
Tau is committed to paying competitive compensation that is fair and equitable. Your experience, qualifications, training, critical skills, and/or business considerations determine your compensation. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package that may include an annual performance bonus, equity, and other incentive compensation plans considered part of Tau’s total compensation package.
