Requirements
  • Bachelors or Masters level Social Work, Or Counselling.
  • Prior residential, social service, or customer service work experience.
  • Experience in educational/vocational advising, career development, and resource development.
  • Experience in networking, connecting and collaborating with community programs and organizations.
  • Experience in housing related programs, resources and relationships with landlords.
  • Experience in leading and implementing group sessions, trainings, etc.
  • Have an understanding and be able to apply the concept of trauma informed care.
  • Must have computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel Programs and be proficient in and the ability to utilize the internet.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel from site to site as may be needed in the performance of duties.
  • Professional-level communications skills verbal and written.
  • Must possess an understanding of and support the mission of The Salvation Army.
  • Staff can be called upon to represent the Salvation Army and support fundraising efforts as needed.
  • As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter.
  • Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check.
Responsibilities
  • Focus on housing stabilization by meeting with residents monthly to develop individualized self-sufficiency goal plans to meet vocational, educational, and housing needs along with understanding barriers to sustaining housing.
  • Develop goal plans including resume building, career interest assessments, practice interviews, and connections with college and training opportunities, behavioral health, substance use, legal, employment and childcare services.
  • Facilitate a monthly group on housing stabilization topics and build linkages with employers, job training and various other social service providers.
  • Lay foundation for educational and vocational goals for clients with the Case Manager and the 24-hour Milieu staff supporting on a daily basis.
  • Spend time in the community connecting with housing organizations, landlords, and building a community-based network to connect residents to stable housing.
  • Conduct visits and apartment inspections and support clients with housing related needs.
  • Participate in weekly clinical meetings and biweekly team meetings.
