  • Prior technical experience in men’s, women’s, and kid’s, outerwear, activewear, or sportswear.
  • 10+ years experience in technical product creation e.g. technical design, pattern making, pattern grading, maker making, etc.
  • Strong project planning, organizational and time management skills and a high level of initiative.
  • High degree of proficiency in PLM systems and Illustrator. Proficiency in all Microsoft programs.
  • Strong knowledge of technical and design needs to build exceptional product focused on fabric, fit and margin.
  • Experience working with factories and Product Development Teams, technology and construction innovation.
  • Ability to effectively work with department executives, suppliers, engineers, and manufacturers to identify and develop new product concepts, innovations and construction technologies.
  • Proactive and passionate approach to driving fresh, innovative thinking from product concept to final execution.  Able to manage to deadlines, be flexible with change, drive to timely resolution.
  • Mentor and guide/collaborate among cross-functional teams to achieve business goals.  Demonstrated collaboration, interpersonal influence, and teamwork skills (maintains effective communication and working relationships).

Responsibilities
  • Lead the Technical Design and Cut/Sew strategy to drive the development and production of seasonal collections, chase product, and test orders.  Ensure that all products are developed in a manner consistent with established fit, quality, and performance standards.
  • Identify immediate priority deliverables and longer term projects, allocate workload to Team, and oversee to completion.
  • Lead Team in problem solving challenges related to problematic construction, fabrics, or trims.
  • Drive pattern work to achieve best in class fits and well thought out, market relevant grading philosophies.
  • Oversee process and drive calendar adherence in support of timely and accurate technical development across all categories.
  • Constantly review tools and processes for continuous improvement opportunities for increased productivity and best practices with in Technical Design and  Cut/Sew.
  • Work closely with the Sourcing Team to optimize all supply chain opportunities against product priorities and business objectives.
  • Support commercialization process and ensure readiness and timeliness of global buys.
  • Manages the performance of all category technical design staff including any freelance designers.
  • Actively manages Team professional and career development.
  • Cross functional leadership liaison between the Business (Merchandising and Sales) and the Product (Design and Sourcing) with ability to evaluate and synthesize needs from the position of Product Development.

Coleman, Contigo and Marmot parent sees Outdoor segment widen Q1 operating loss on lower sales. May 1, 2026 Newell Brands is reporting that its Outdoor & Recreation segment, which includes the Baby Jogger, Campingaz, Coleman, Contigo, Ex Officio and Marmot brands, generated net sales of $175 million compared with $182 million in the prior-year Q1 period, reflecting a core sales decline of 5.7 percent, as well as the impact of favorable foreign exchange. The operating loss for the segment was $7 million, or negative 4.0 percent of sales, in Q1, compared with $5 million, or negative 2.7 percent of sales, in the prior-year period. Normalized operating loss was $2 million, or negative 1.1 percent of sales, compared with a nominal loss in the prior-year period. Consolidated Company Results Net sales were $1.5 billion, a decline of 1.1 percent compared with the prior year period, reflecting a core sales decline of 3.5 percent and favorable foreign exchange. Core sales exceeded the Company's expectations, driven by stronger-than-expected category performance and consumer demand, along with a net pricing benefit from customer programs reflecting better claims experience and improved deduction management. "First quarter results came in ahead of plan across all key metrics with all three segments delivering core sales above our expectations, offered Newell Brands President and CEO Chris Peterson. "Higher than expected consumer demand for our products, as evidenced by improving point of sale and share trends, was driven by continued investment in innovation, advertising and promotional support. We also experienced better than expected underlying category dynamics despite the continued existence of a challenging macroeconomic backdrop. We continue to believe that our strategy is working and, importantly, we now expect to return to top-line growth in the second quarter." Gross margin was 33.1 percent compared with 32.1 percent in the prior year period, with the positive impact from net pricing and gross productivity more than offsetting headwinds from volume decline, inflation and tariff costs. Normalized gross margin was 33.2 percent compared with 32.5 percent in the prior year period. Operating income was $34 million compared with $21 million in the prior year period. Operating margin was 2.2 percent compared with 1.3 percent in the prior year period. Normalized operating income was $74 million, or 4.8 percent of sales, compared with $71 million, or 4.5 percent of sales, in the prior year period. Net interest expense was $84 million compared with $72 million in the prior year period. Income tax benefit was $28 million compared with $18 million in the prior year period. There was a nominal normalized income tax benefit in the current period, compared with a $2 million provision in the prior year period. Net loss was $33 million compared with $37 million in the prior year period. Normalized net loss was $21 million compared with $6 million in the prior year period. Normalized EBITDA was $135 million compared with $136 million in the prior year period. Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Year-to-date operating cash outflow was $233 million compared with $213 million in the prior year period primarily reflecting higher inventory levels. At the end of the first quarter of 2026, Newell Brands had debt outstanding of $5.0 billion and cash and cash equivalents of $201 million, compared with $4.9 billion and $233 million, respectively, at the end of the first quarter of 2025. Outlook The company initiated its outlook for the second quarter and updated its outlook for the full year 2026. The outlook does not include any refund of the $120 million paid for IEEPA tariffs in 2025. Newell Brands faces $158M tariff hit amid 2–7% sales decline forecast for 2026

Newell Brands has raised caution after 2025 proved more challenging than expected, with tariffs disrupting its anticipated sales recovery. The company projects core sales to decline 2% to flat for 2026, with a particularly weak first quarter showing 7% to 5% decline. Despite headwinds including $150 million in tariff-related impacts, Newell is launching 25 major innovations across all business units this year. Graco has become the top-selling baby item in the US, whilst Yankee Candle's relaunch delivered 6% US core sales growth in the fourth quarter. The company announced a global productivity plan expected to generate approximately $75 million in year-over-year savings. Shares have declined 4.6% over three months, though innovation momentum could support gradual recovery.

Based in Atlanta, Rice brings extensive experience elevating design as a strategic growth driver across world-class consumer and enterprise brands. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President and Global Chief Brand & Design Officer at 3M, where he led corporate brand, design, and partnerships to connect purpose, innovation, and customer experience at scale. He has also held senior design leadership roles at Georgia-Pacific, Procter & Gamble, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and The Coca-Cola Company. C-Suite moves at Jimmy John's, Farmer Boys. Darin Dugan has been promoted to brand president of Jimmy John's. Only the third president in the sandwich chain's history, Darin most recently served as Jimmy John's CMO for the that last six years. He takes the position held by James North, who led the brand for the last 25 years and has now been appointed as Jimmy John's global brand ambassador. "Darin has brought creativity and discipline together by modernizing campaigns, elevating the menu, and launching new, brand-defining product platforms, including wraps and toasted sandwiches. He's a passionate leader with a deep understanding of what makes this brand so special...," said Scott Murphy, Inspire Brands chief brand officer and Dunkin' brand president. Prior to Jimmy John's, Dugan served as vice president of national marketing for Sonic until the chain was acquired by Inspire in 2018. Earlier in his career he worked for Applebee's and spent more than 14 years at Kraft Foods Group. Kate Carpenter has been promoted to Jimmy John's CMO, filling the role left vacant by Dugan. Carpenter mostly recently served as vice president of integrated marketing for the brand for the past two years. Before joining Jimmy John's, Carpenter worked as brand lead at Newell Brands after serving as senior director of brand for Papa John's International. Earlier in her career she spent over a decade Coca-Cola, working on multiple brands. Jimmy John's currently operates over 2,600 locations worldwide, and while it has grown since being acquired by Inspire, the chain has been plagued by poor customers reviews, only receiving an average of 2.7 stars from close to 80,000 reviews on Yelp. Separately, regional chain Farmer Boys has tapped Mark Hardison as its new CMO. Hardison joins the chain most recently from California Fish Grill, where he also served as CMO. Before California Fish Grill he spent 20 years at El Pollo Loco, rising to the position of senior vice president of marketing. The 45-year-old QSR, which operates more than 100 locations in Arizona, California and Nevada, boasts being a farm-to-table restaurant, with fresh produce delivered to each location every morning.
