Requirements
- Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physician Assistant, or completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program and current licensure or eligibility for licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
- An Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner or Adult Nurse Practitioner license/certification is required for adult patients and stable chronic disease management or primary care.
- A Family Nurse Practitioner license/certification is required for care across the lifespan and stable chronic disease management or primary care.
- Current Basic Life Support certification is required before the start date.
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification is required before the start date.
- Current DHEC and Drug Enforcement Administration registration are required before the start date.
- The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant must maintain licenses, certifications, continuing nursing education or continuing medical education, and other credentials required by applicable policies and state law.
- The employee must be able to work continuously while standing, walking, and sitting and perform the listed bending, kneeling, stair climbing, reaching, manual dexterity, and repetitive-motion tasks.
- The employee must be physically qualified for respirator use, maintain 20/40 corrected vision, work in a latex-safe indoor environment, and lift, push, pull, or carry objects weighing approximately 50 pounds unassisted.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct outpatient and minimal inpatient care to cardiology patients.
- Take comprehensive histories and perform physical examinations.
- Evaluate and treat patients based on histories, physical examinations, radiological, laboratory, and other diagnostic test results pursuant to the practice agreement or scope-of-practice guideline.
- Initiate referrals to other health care providers and consult with the attending or collaborating physician.
- Document and bill for direct care provided.
- Use current research and evidence-based decision-making in clinical practice.
- Perform and participate in quality and performance improvement activities and clinical research.
- Participate in and support organizational accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities.
- Demonstrate responsibility for professional practice through active participation in professional organizations and continuing education.
- Potentially precept advanced practice provider students and facilitate the learning of new team members.
- Travel to a secondary practice as scheduled.
Desired Qualifications
- A minimum of two years of cardiology experience as an Advanced Practice Provider.
