Job Description
Strategy at PG One:
You will be part of a small team of experienced strategists, working in partnership with strategic thinkers from across the PG One disciplines including, media, data, influencer and shopper. Strategy helps set the direction of projects and opens up the creative opportunities. P&G love talking strategy and you need to be able to hold your own with senior clients.
Your role as a Strategic Planner at PG One:
As a Strategic Planner at PG One you will have the opportunity to set the strategic agenda on several of P&G’s world-famous household brands.
You will be responsible for leading the day-to-day strategy work across several well-known brands spanning a range of categories. The role is based out of the London office but as most of our clients are based in Geneva there is an occasional need to travel to Switzerland and other European countries (for research).
Strategy development and strategic discussions happen on a spectrum—from shaping high-level brand portfolio strategy to crafting tactical creative briefs. Everything on either end and in between is equally important and expected of a planner at PG One.
Specific requirements for this role:
- Be seen as a trusted strategic partner by your clients.
- Get deep under the skin of the target audiences and uncover fresh consumer insights, bringing new perspectives.
- Nurture and champion outstanding creative work. Working closely alongside the creatives and account team to deliver inspiring briefs.
- Platform native. We need you to be very comfortable on the digital platforms where our consumers live; using them as much as an educational tool about our target audiences as we do a home for the content we create.
- Ability to create persuasive and compelling narratives and presentations. Producing logical and evidence-based presentations.
- Bring foresight and trends into upstream thinking. You will be comfortable working alongside R&D teams from P&G in concept development and future innovation.
- Help navigate creative work through complex client processes. You will quickly become an expert in the various research tools employed by the client and how best to achieve success. Working with client stakeholders in a pragmatic and informed way.
- Become a category and product expert. Keeping aware of trends and issues within the category and obsessing over the product details and functions. Understanding the key drivers of the category and how best to take advantage of them.
- To bring external cultural inspiration. Bringing your interest in wider cultural issues and contemporary popular culture to inspire different viewpoints amongst clients and colleagues. As a regional role you need to be able to reach beyond your own culture.
- Driving a culture of effectiveness. You will look for opportunities to write effectiveness papers and contribute to a culture of effectiveness.
- Fully contribute as a member of the PG One strategy team. Sharing knowledge and supporting others as well as contributing thought pieces.
- Proactive and reactive. Whilst we spend a lot of our time responding to client’s requests and challenges, we equally need a planner who can proactively bring new ways of thinking, learning, and communicating that drive brand building.
- Relationship builder. Strategy development and oversight should not be transactional; nor should the Account Leader be the only point of contact for our clients. Being a strategist at PG ONE is operating as a brand consultant, which requires a nurturing of partnership and continuous building of trust.
Skills and Experience:
- Experience as a lead strategist in an advertising agency or marketing background.
- Well versed and confident in social/digital first campaigns.
- Experience of working with large FMCG clients and on multi-market campaigns.
- Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Excellent client management skills.
- Expertise across touch points.
- A natural collaborator and problem solver.
- Ability to bring energy/spark to a meeting and breath disproportionate interest into traditionally low interest categories.
