Requirements
  • Enrolled at least half-time, 6 credit hours per semester for undergraduate students and 3 credit hours per semester for graduate students.
  • Maintain a Texas A&M International University overall Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 for undergraduate students and 3.0 for graduate students.
  • Must have a current and complete file with the Office of Financial Aid.
  • Must demonstrate financial need by submitting a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application annually.
  • Must be a United States citizen, or permanent resident, or has an alien registration number, an eligible non-citizen.
  • Must meet all other requirements as stated in TAMIU’s Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAPP).
Responsibilities
  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of crime prevention programs and events.
  • Support the implementation of community outreach activities, including workshops, seminars, and public awareness campaigns.
  • Help maintain program schedules, track progress, and report on outcomes.
  • Work with community partners to promote Laredo Crime Stoppers’ initiatives.
  • Participate in community meetings and events to represent the organization and gather feedback.
  • Assist in developing and distributing informational materials such as flyers, newsletters, and social media content.
  • Perform data entry and maintain accurate records of program activities and outcomes.
  • Assist with general office tasks such as answering phones, responding to emails, and organizing files.
  • Conduct research on crime trends, prevention strategies, and best practices in community safety.
  • Analyze data to identify areas for program improvement and increased impact.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the creation and management of content for social media platforms and the organization’s website.
  • Assist in designing marketing materials and promotional campaigns.
  • Help monitor and respond to public inquiries through social media and other communication channels.
Desired Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in criminal justice, public administration, sociology, communications, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Passion for community service and crime prevention.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in use of personal computer workstation with common software applications.
  • Ability to organize and multitask functions to ensure compliance with deadlines.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship and communication skills.
  • Problem analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to learn and use multiple software programs.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
