Requirements
  • 2+ years of construction equipment operation utilizing various underground and aerial construction equipment such as directional drills, trencher/plow/rocksaw, backhoe, or bucket trucks -OR- current military service, or prior military service with honorable discharge.
  • Must follow the TDS attendance guidelines in order to meet TDS’s business needs including but not limited to our obligations to our customers and to our customers’ needs.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and remain eligible for DOT requirements.
Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership Assistance: At the direction of the Sr Outside Plant Construction Tech, assist with communicating job duties and responsibilities to internal construction crews.
  • Team Leadership Assistance: Focusing on crew efficiencies, ensuring assigned tasks are completed.
  • Team Leadership Assistance: Training, monitoring, and coaching team members to safely perform assigned tasks with related construction equipment.
  • Team Leadership Assistance: Performing quality control inspections of construction crew work. Ensuring safety protocols are enforced.
  • Team Leadership Assistance: Working with foreperson to ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget.
  • General Construction Labor: Operation of trenchers, backhoes, end loaders, plows, and other excavating equipment used to construct and maintain outside plant cable facilities.
  • General Construction Labor: Operation of Horizontal Directional Drills.
  • General Construction Labor: Locate cable and fiber and other utilities as required by construction activity.
  • General Construction Labor: Performs landscape restoration after project completion.
  • Construction Site Organization: Engage municipalities, utility companies, suppliers, contractors, and property owners to coordinate project tasks and avoid disputes.
  • Construction Site Organization: Receive maps and staking sheets and ensure construction project is built.
  • Construction Site Organization: Review, update, and assist with the recording of GIS, maps, addresses, and as-builds.
  • Construction Site Organization: Ensure locates are performed on time and prior to team and equipment arriving at the worksite.
  • Construction Site Organization: Set pedestals, vaults, and handholes along with marking/labeling fiber optic and/or copper facilities.
  • Construction Site Organization: Coordinate with Sr Outside Plant Construction Tech to ensure availability of materials and equipment.
  • Construction Site Organization: Perform the placement of new aerial and buried fiber according to maps, staking sheets, and locate markings.
  • Construction Equipment Maintenance: Service, clean, maintain, and repair equipment.
  • Construction Equipment Maintenance: Check DOT logs and review condition of trucks and trailers on job site to ensure all vehicles meet DOT standards.
  • Construction Equipment Maintenance: Report any issues to Sr Outside Plant Construction Tech.
  • Complete all related paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Assist Field Services technicians, as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Ability to obtain a Class A Commercial Driver's License through in-house CDL certification program after hire.
  • Prefer 3+ months’ experience with utility location.
  • Prefer 2+ years’ experience in the construction of fiber optic cable outside plant networks or 2+ years installation of any underground or overhead utilities will be considered.
  • Understanding of telecommunication products and services.
  • Proven organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • May require occasional travel.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
  • Must be able to operate vehicles with manual transmissions.

TDS Telecom raises fibre goal to 2.1M addresses, Array grows site rental revenues 51%

Telephone and Data Systems (TDS) reported fourth quarter 2025 revenues from continuing operations of $330.7 million, up from $295.3 million year-over-year. Net income attributable to TDS common shareholders was $37.2 million, or $0.32 per diluted share, compared to $1 million, or $0.01 per share, in the same period last year. TDS completed the sale of its wireless business in 2025 and launched tower company Array. TDS Telecom deployed 140,000 new marketable fibre service addresses during the year, raising its long-term goal to 2.1 million addresses. Array's site rental revenues grew 51% year-over-year. The company repurchased 1.8 million common shares for $67.4 million in the fourth quarter and paid a $10.25 per share special dividend in February 2026 following a $1.018 billion spectrum sale to AT&T.
