Requirements
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) or Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technologist and Certification Board (NMTCB) required upon hire.
  • New graduates must obtain ARRT-R registry or NMTCB prior to first day of employment.
  • Applicants hired after March 10, 2024, must complete steps required for advancing to level 2, including advanced certification, within 24 months.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the use of radiofrequencies within a magnetic field for diagnostic, therapeutic or research purposes.
  • Perform magnetic resonance imaging and acquire and analyze data needed for diagnosis at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed practitioner.
  • Independently perform or assist the licensed practitioner in the completion of magnetic resonance imaging procedures.
  • Prepare, administer and document activities related to medications in accordance with federal and state laws, regulations, or lawful institutional policy.
  • Ensure correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.
  • Utilize appropriate imaging protocol and optimize technical factors while maximizing patient safety, optimizing patient care, and applying principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable).
  • Evaluate images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality and verify archival storage and/or transfer of data, post processing of data if applicable.
  • Educate and monitor students and other health care providers.
  • Apply principles of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patient, self, and others.
  • Assist the licensed practitioner with magnetic resonance interventional procedures.
  • Select appropriate pulse sequences with consideration given to established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters.
  • Participate in MRI Safety implant investigation and approval process.

  • Bachelor's Degree-Related Field of Study (Preferred)
  • Minimum of 1 year-Related work experience (Preferred)
